Maltings Academy works closely with our partner New Rickstones Academy, local primary schools, sports clubs, companies and voluntary organisations to encourage students to play an active role in our community.
The student council nominates national and local charities for fundraising donations and organises non-uniform days to support them on a half-termly basis. We are also committed to being part of the Our Witham project which aims to give young people a voice and an opportunity to impact directly on their own town. This initiative is led by the Witham Town Team and incorporates the excellent #teamwitham events in school holidays.
We are a Healthy School and an Active Essex Commended school with a thriving extra-curricular programme. We are also the only school in the area providing Level 3 Bikeability courses to young people in association with Essex County Council.
Our work with employers and our alumni helps us to foster strong relationship with local and global businesses to inform our students in their career pathways.
Our fantastic facilities are available to let throughout the evenings, weekends and during holidays to local groups including sports and dance groups and charities.
Maltings Academy is a member of the Witham & District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, for whom one of our students designed the new logo. A number of our students are members of the Youth Chamber, including the Chairperson.
Maltings Academy contributes to the Essex Excellence Network for teaching and learning and staff have delivered training at national conferences, other local schools and at the BETT show. We are members of Schools Direct and The National Teaching School Alliance and regularly support other schools on request.
We are also proud to introduce our Community Ambassadors. This is a group of students across all key stages who work to improve community links by organising events that encourage interaction with the local community and the Academy and by arranging fundraising for local charities.
