Senior Leadership Team

Mrs E Baker BA (Hons) NPQH - ebaker@maltingsacademy.org

"Throughout my career so far, I have worked hard to ensure that I and those around me put the students at the very heart of our thinking. My educational philosophy has always been rooted in the firm belief that every child matters and in providing learning contexts which are stretching, tailor made, inspiring and enjoyable. I joined Maltings Academy in 2011 and feel very privileged to work with outstanding students and staff.

Two days a week I work as a “System Leader” for the AET supporting other academies in the trust.

Head of Academy

Mr J Forbes - jforbes@maltingsacademy.org

"I have been working at the Academy since September 2013 as part of the Senior Leadership Team and Art Department. I currently lead the Academy on Teaching & Learning. During my time in teaching I have been a Head of Department, Head of Year and Director of KS3. Although I now teach a range of subjects across the Academy I am a specialist Art teacher with a First Class degree in Fine Art from Northampton University."

Vice Principal

Mr Simon Richardson

Assistant Vice Principal

Mr M Slatter - mslatter@maltingsacademy.org

I have been teaching since 1999, and my specialist subject area is Physical Education. I studied for a BA Honours degree at Brighton University, and I particularly enjoy Football, Athletics and Tennis. Maltings Academy is the second school that I have worked in, and I find the role very rewarding as I have the opportunity to work with, and support a range of young people who need specific guidance at various stages in their school career."

Assistant Vice Principal

Mrs L Shannon - lshannon@maltingsacademy.org

"I have worked in secondary education for 12 years. I have held various roles such as a class teacher, Head of Year, Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, Director of Inclusion and now Assistant Vice Principal. I hold the National Accredited SENCO Award and I am also part of the Super Senco programme run by Essex. I pursued a career in teaching as I believe knowledge is power and by playing a part in enabling all students to learn, I feel honoured to be in some small way instrumental in shaping a positive future for students and the community."
