Senior Leadership Team

Head of Academy

Mr J Forbes - jforbes@maltingsacademy.org

Vice Principal

Mr S Richardson - srichardson@maltingsacademy.org

I graduated from the University of Brighton as a teacher in 2001 having studied for my degree at Chelsea College of Physical Education. I spent a large part of my teaching career at an Academy in South-East Essex and I've worked as a part of the Trust since it's inception in 2008. With strong family ties to Witham, I joined Maltings Academy in September 2018. During my teaching career I have been a Head of Department, Head of Year and a Director of Key Stage. I have always been passionate about delivering high quality pastoral care and my philosophy as a teacher is firmly rooted in adopting the practice of Discipline with Dignity. I want the students at Maltings Academy to be safe, happy and aspirational whilst taking pride in themselves, their school and their community.

Assistant Vice Principal

Mr M Slatter - mslatter@maltingsacademy.org

I have been teaching since 1999, and my specialist subject area is Physical Education. I studied for a BA Honours degree at Brighton University, and I particularly enjoy football, athletics and tennis. Maltings Academy is the second school that I have worked in, and I find the role very rewarding as I have the opportunity to work with, and support a range of young people who need specific guidance at various stages in their school career.

Assistant Vice Principal

Mr L Kilvert - lkilvert@maltingsacademy.org

Joining Maltings Academy in 2019 feels like a homecoming. Having left what was The John Bramston School as a student in 2003, it is a pleasure to return and have a positive impact upon a community that is very close to my heart. Graduating from the University of Portsmouth, I am a geography teacher with a passion for the environment. As the lead for Teaching and Learning across the Academy I have the huge privilege of witnessing extraordinary teaching on a daily basis. It is always a pleasure to see young people strive to achieve incredible things.
