At Lea Forest Academy, we explicitly teach our pupils social and emotional learning skills through a systematic scheme of work called PATHs (Promoting alternative thinking strategies). The PATHS scheme is designed to facilitate the development of self-control, peer relations and self-esteem, emotional awareness and interpersonal problem-solving skills. A huge part of our PATHs is delivered every day when a VSP (very special person) is picked to receive compliments from their friends, their teacher and themselves.

Lea Forest Academy are passionate about teaching the ‘whole child’ and we believe that this will lead to better outcomes for pupils. High quality PATHS is not only important to raise attainment and progress, but it is essential to equip pupils with knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live healthy, safe, productive, fulfilled, capable and responsible lives. Each pupil is unique and individual and they need to be respected, understood and valued in order to achieve their full potential.
