Our Early Years Department
Here at Lea Forest Primary Academy we aim to ensure that your child is taught in a purposeful, happy, safe and inviting atmosphere, where learning can take place and children can feel secure, motivated and inspired to succeed. We want all our children to feel valued and respected. Our Early Years department is designed to develop our children's sense of independence and our trained and skilled staff help to support you child to ensure they feel respected, included and engaged in a range of tasks that are designed to foster strong relationships with the adults in our academy and the other children in their class.
We will ensure that your child has the best possible start to their educational life, as they learn new and exciting skills that will become the foundations for their primary education and later adult life. We feel that our academy has a special responsibility to teach your child how to learn independently by delivering a curriculum that covers a broad range of knowledge, skills and attitudes and gives our children the opportunities to practice them.
Our Learning Environment
At our academy, one of the key features in supporting your child's learning and development is the provision of a rich and varied learning environment, both indoors and outdoors.
We know that being outdoors has a positive impact on children's sense of well being and helps all aspects of children's development. As well as a modern and expansive outdoor area our academy has access to a woodland area. Provision in our outdoor learning environment is carefully planned to give children the opportunities to succeed, explore and learn in a safe, secure and challenging outdoor space.
Learning Through Play
We aim to provide a high quality Early Years experience, focused on learning through play and adult focused activities, which in turn will give a firm foundation on which we can build academic, social and emotional success. Meeting the individual needs of all the children lies at the heart of the practice of our Early Years Foundation Stage. At Lea Forest Primary Academy we pride ourselves on our comprehensive and supportive induction programme and our close parent partnership which enables our professional and experienced Early Years Practitioners to plan and provide for your child's individual strengths and needs.
Nursery at Lea Forest
Our nursery is able to offer half day places from 8:45am-12:00pm. Parents wishing to secure a place for their child are advised to obtain an admission form from the academy office. We have set up an arrangement with the Kitt's Green Children's Centre (which is situated on the same site as our academy) to help with wrap around care where they will either drop off your child at Lea Forest or collect them from the academy at the end of the school. Please ask staff in our Early Years Department for more information.
Please note that our Nursery uniform is slightly different to that of the key stage 1 and key stage 2 children, we suggest that children wear the red Lea Forest tops, white or red polo shirts and black track suit bottoms. We recommend wearing shoes that fasten with a Velcro strap to enable your child to participate in a very active and physical curriculum
