Behaviour

It is essential that we set and achieve high standards of behaviour as an academy community. Children can only benefit fully from academy life within a caring and secure setting. All individuals therefore hold both rights and responsibilities.

As children mature, it is essential that they come to understand what it means to work within a community. The partnership between home and the academy is a most valuable asset in promoting the academy’s standards of behaviour. Parents will receive a copy of our behaviour guidelines when their child starts school.

The children are fully involved in determining our high standards and expectations of behaviour through regular class and individual discussions. Parents are kept informed of “Rules, Rewards and Consequences” at the beginning of each academy year.

Please see our Behaviour Policy for more details

In September 2018, we introduced a behaviour system called ‘It’s good to be Green’.

This system ensures a consistent behaviour approach throughout the whole school. The expectation is that children stay on green all day by working hard and following the rules.

Every morning and lunchtime, all children are ‘reset’ to green. Children who get a red card attend a lunchtime ‘Reflection Club’.

Children can earn rewards based on ‘Flipper’ for good work and good behaviour. Flipper stamps are given that build up to a bronze, silver and gold Flipper pin badge. Pupils wear these with pride around the school!
