Meet your teacher
Mrs Lauren Kitsell
Reception Teacher
Mrs Lauren Kitsell is our fantastic Reception Teacher here at Hazelwood Academy. Her journey into teaching began as she studied for a PGCE at The University of Chichester where she specialised in the Early Years (3-7 year olds).
Mrs Kitsell joined us in 2020 and is really enjoying working with our youngest pupils.
“I enjoy the awe and wonder that is found within the Early Years. The children are so excited to learn and I find such joy in their amazement of the world around them. There is never a dull day and there is always something to laugh or smile about! I love seeing the children’s progress at the earliest part of their school experience.”
Mrs Kitsell other passion is music having trained as a 'music specialist'.
“I was very lucky to be raised in a musical family, leading me to develop a love of music and later go on to study for a music degree. I believe that music is such an important part of children’s progression and can be a fun and engaging way to enable learning across the whole curriculum. We do lots of singing and dancing in reception and enjoy exploring the sounds around us”
In her free time Mrs Kitsell enjoys playing the piano, reading, playing board games and going on long country walks with her friends and family.
Reminder
