Reading a book that isn’t a library book? Check the level on Accelerated Reader.

The library is open from 8:15 am to 2:00 pm every school day, and is staffed by a Librarian.

The main aim of the library is to support literacy across the curriculum and reading for pleasure. Students may borrow two books at any one time. These books are loaned for a period of two weeks and should either be returned or renewed no later than the last date stamped onto the date label found on the title page. Students with overdue books will not be able to borrow anymore books until they are returned. Once the book has been issued to a user it becomes their responsibility both inside and outside of school.

Stock

The library currently holds over 9000 books, 13 computers to be used for research and homework, a range of educational magazines, and 2 daily newspapers. Printed resources are selected by factors such as suitability for age and ability. High impact books for reluctant readers are regularly added. Stock selection aims to be dynamic in its approach, and a suggestion book encourages users to request books to be purchased that interest them. KS4 Students are also encouraged to read books from the staff library.

Books on issues such as adolescence, growing up, dealing with emotions, healthy eating, etc are readily available.
