Beliefs and Values about Behaviour

At Feversham Primary Academy, we recognise the importance of consistency in supporting the development of children’s social, emotional and behavioural skills and believe that promoting good behaviour is a three way partnership between children staff and parents. We are therefore committed to a whole school approach for behaviour management.

Our policy is based on the principles of positive behaviour management and aims to recognise and reward good behaviour. We believe that through developing personal awareness and self-regulation before using consequences we can help children to take responsibility for their own behaviour.

These rules are used throughout school from Nursery to Year 6.

1. We always try our best.

2. We are Feversham friends.

3. We are good listeners.

4. We are honest.

5. We look after everything.


Individual Rewards

Staff can use any of these strategies to recognise and reward individual children’s good behaviour:

  • Ticks on House Point/Behaviour chart

  • Merits (on individual merit card). Rewards from ‘merit prize trolley’ will be handed out weekly for pupils reaching prize thresholds (at 10 merits, 20, 30, 40 etc)

  • Certificates awarded in weekly assembly

  • Headteacher’s Star of the week

  • Special responsibilities – being a monitor or helper as a treat for good behaviour

  • Stickers

  • Messages to parents

  • Sending children to another teacher or a member of SLT to be praised
