Governors & Governance
The overarching responsibility for Governance of the academy lies with the Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) Board of Trustees.
If you would like access to the academy's governing board meeting minutes, you may request a copy from the Clerk to the governing board.
The trust, following a review of Governance across the AET, have implemented a new system of Governance from September 2017. The changes seek to gain more benefits from being a Multi-Academy Trust and reflect a national ‘best practice’ initiative in governance, championed by Lord Nash. Consequently, AET will be taking advantage of its network of Regional Educational Advisers (REAs) for the chairing of the new local Governing Boards. Further representation by educational Professionals will be provided by the relevant ‘Phase’ Director (Primary, Secondary), and by other Principals from AET academies. This will help build connections between academies and strengthen the concept that AET is more than the sum of its parts.
The Chair of the Board will be Julie Price Grimshaw, our Regional Education Advisor, with Lauren Costello overseeing the work of the board. Invited to join the board will be members of the Caldicotes and North Ormesby Primary Academies’ previous governing bodies who will be supported by the addition of Simon Bush (Primary Principal from The Greenway Academy, Hull) and Dale Jackson (Secondary Principal from Kingswood Academy, Hull.)
Who the local Governing Board members are:
Helen Steele, Principal Caldicotes Primary
Craig Nicholson, Acting Principal NOPA
Julie Price-Grimshaw, Chair
Lauren Costello, National Director (Primaries)
Dale Jackson, Principal Kingswood, Hull
Simon Bush, Principal The Green Way, Hull
There will be two further bodies which underpin academy-level governance:
- Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), which will operate as a collaborative committee across Caldicotes, NOPA, Hillsview and Unity City Academy.
- Parent and Community Advisory Board (PCAB) will be the representative body for parents and the wider community, and will promote contributions to the academy from any stakeholder. The PCAB members will also support panels for admission and staff and pupil disciplinary matters.
All the meetings will be clerked by L Stockton, PA to UCA Principal.
All minutes will be shared at the Governing body meetings.
