Three year old children are eligible for admission to Nursery, although the date of admission is dependent upon places available in our 30 place setting.
Priority is given to the children who have siblings already attending the Academy and are living within the school’s admission zone.
The Early Years, Nursery team can facilitate a limited number of flexible places for children attending our Nursery setting. Generally pupils will attend either on a morning or for an afternoon session for 3 hours. However, to support families, a child’s entitlement can be grouped together to enable either all day participation for Monday, Tuesday to lunchtime on Wednesday or Wednesday afternoon and all day for Thursday and Friday. For more details about the criteria for selection and to discuss these arrangements, please speak to Miss Pounder, Lower Team leader.
Children begin full time education in the September before their 5th birthday. When children enter full time education in Reception class, we find a smooth transition from Nursery to Reception is essential to ease your child into school life.
Our transition arrangements take place from the first Tuesday in July when all children 'move up' to the next stage in their learning journey with us and their new class. The new Reception class will spend an initial morning on the Tuesday in their new class with new teaching team. They will be collected at 12 noon. The following day, Wednesday, they will once again spend the morning in their new class and also stay for lunch . They will then be welcomed and begin full-time from the Thursday.
This transition strategy is supportive and very effective in reducing the fears of starting full-time education both for families and the children themselves.
During the summer term, to support transition and to put new Reception pupils and parents’ minds at ease, parents will be invited to experience lunchtime with their child (the date will be shared nearer the time). The cost of the meal will be £1.90 for children’s meals and £3.10 for an adult meal. Parents and carers intending to have a school meal with their child will need to inform school at the ‘new starters’ meeting held in the Summer term prior to their child starting in Reception class.
The planned admission number for 2018-19 is 30.
Children may be registered for admission at any time, but preferably before they are three.
The Academies Enterprise Trust is the Admissions Authority for the academy.
Parents are invited to submit their preferences for the Primary School they would like their child to attend via Admissions service, following the Admissions Policy. Preference forms will be sent to the child's home address in January 2019. These forms need to be completed and returned by the deadline given. These forms are for the 2019-20 intake.
You must apply for a reception place even if your child already attends the schools nursery. Please note that a place in a school nursery does not guarantee a place in the Primary School.
