Year 10 Work Experience 2019
All Year 10 students will be expected to attend a week of Work Experience in March 2018.
The Work Experience week is 19th March 2018.
All students were issued with a WEX form, letter and timeline in July before the summer holidays. These can also be accessed at the bottom of this page or may be collected from Ms Murray in the Exams Office.
All green WEX forms should be returned to Ms Murray or your tutor
Learn about work WEX website
All students have been issued with a PIN to log in and access the WEX database.
This can be found at http://lpw.learnaboutwork.org/
Please click on Student
Please select Broadlands Academy
Log in with full name e.g John Smith
Put in PIN
Click on Search
You will get a screen like this:
From here you can tick the industries you are interested in and search for possible placements. You can also search for a specific company, or in certain postcode areas.
Within a job placement you can get a detailed description of the activities involved, see contact details and click on the Journey Planner to map your travel to the company whether via bus, train or walking etc.
Please note that if you add it to Selections, this just saves it for you. It does NOT contact the employer or tell them you are interested in the placement.
Also just because they are on the website, does not mean they are in a position to offer a placement. It just means they have done at some point.
All placements MUST be approved by the EBP. All placements must be recorded and signed on the green WEX form. They will then be entered onto the system and await approval. Most placements will need to be visited by the H&S company to ensure it is safe for the students to attend. This is why the deadlines are so important and must be adhered to please.
Students should contact their tutor or Ms Murray in the Exams Office if they have any questions.
There will be an assembly in October highlighting the importance of WEX and after this date Ms Murray will be running a lunchtime drop-in session for WEX queries on Thursday lunchtimes in the exams office.
Work Experience at Theatre Royal Bath
The Theatre Royal Bath will be hosting its Junior Apprentice Week at the egg theatre from Monday 9th – Friday 13th July 2018. Students in Years 10 – 13 are welcome to apply. Places on the Theatre Royal Bath’s work experience programme are very popular, so early applications are recommended. Further information and details regarding the application process can be found here. Placements will be offered to students after a short interview – dates TBC.
Please note: they are unable to accept students on any dates other than those specified. This will no doubt come as a disappointment to some students and it is suggested that students may wish to explore other opportunities to become involved with the egg theatre, including joining their Theatre School.
