Curriculum

Curriculum

The construction of the timetable is now complete, and the curriculum is planned in a single one-week timetable, with four periods per day. Our curriculum ensures that students are provided with a broad experience of subjects. Alongside the key components of the curriculum in England, we have given a clear focus to self-identity, health and wellbeing:

  • We have introduced ‘Human Studies’ for all students aged 11-14. This area provides students with a carefully designed curriculum to ensure they gain a clear awareness of our modern world and their place within it. The curriculum is based on learning spanning subject areas such as psychology, sociology, religion, health and relationships education.
  • This is combined with an emphasis on the importance of physical activity, health and wellbeing through our revised PE curriculum and our Food & Nutrition curriculum.

Our PSHE and Health & Relationships curriculum is delivered partly through Human Studies, Physical Education and Health & Nutrition classes, but also through a carefully programme of assemblies and workshops designed across the academic year. Within Y10 and Y11, our Physical Education curriculum is provided through additional extra-curricular opportunities and activities.
