You need to apply directly to us for a Nursery place for your child. Collect an application form from the desk in the main school reception, fill it in, and return it to us there.

You can apply at any time during the year.

We follow the following criteria on offering places. As with the primary school, we give priority to:

  • children in public care
  • children with a social or medical need
  • siblings of pupils already in the school
  • children living closest to the school.

We recommend that you put your child’s name on the waiting list once they are two years old. To do this, ask for an application form at the desk in reception, fill it in and return it to us there. You do not need to provide any proof of your permanent address to go on the waiting list.

Please note that the offer of a place in the Nursery does not guarantee your child a place in the Reception class.

Admissions during the school year

Admissions during the school year or in September to year groups other than Reception are all referred to as ‘in-year applications’. For these, you need to apply via the Leicestershire County Council’s website – www.leicestershire.gov.uk/education-and-children/schools-colleges-and-academies/school-admissions or ring the admissions team on 0116 305 6684

Before all children start at Beacon families are required to meet with the headteacher ad have a tour around the school to discuss your child's individual needs. We also contact your child's current school to ensure a successful transition to Beacon.

If you are applying to transfer your children from another Leicestershire school, you will first need to meet with the head teacher at your current school to talk about why you want to move your child.
