- Art & Design
- Technology (Food & Resistant Materials)
- French or Spanish
- Humanities (Geography, History, RS & Citizenship)
- Performing Arts (Music, Drama)
- Physical Education
Year 9 curriculum offer (subject refinements)
To ensure students effectively deepen their learning, to improve their love of learning and to maximise the relevance of the curriculum for students’ future progression, we allow students to refine the subjects they study in Year 9. Students continue to follow our Key Stage 3 curriculum and assessment model as Year 9 option subjects, to establish a wider and deeper foundation of knowledge and skills, which they could not have been done on the continued restriction of curriculum time allocated in Years 7 and 8. We do not allow the use of Year 9 for narrowing the curriculum to specific exam content which belongs solely in Level 2 syllabuses.
In Year 8 our students, staff and parents overwhelmingly support the curriculum concept of refining subjects in Year 9 as evidenced in our annual survey (see our curriculum policy for further details).
Year 7-9 assessment uses the INFORM assessment model. Students are assessed against Age Related Expectations across the curriculum offer.
