Boys League Match

Yesterday, the boys played a football match against St Teresa’s Primary school. It was a great performance by the boys, and Jamie, and a thoroughly deserved win of 7-2. All the hard work in training is paying off.

Girls League Football

Yesterday, the girls won their first football league match against St Teresa’s Primary School. It was a fantastic match and the girls should be very proud of themselves. Jamie scored the two goals and Rae’s double save was unbelievable.

Final Score - St Teresa's 0 - Ashingdon 2

Hockey Tournament

On Tuesday, Ashingdon went to Clements Hall to play in the Castle Point Hockey Tournament, against 9 other schools. Although the weather conditions were very wet and windy, the children played extremely well and fought hard for a place in the semi-final. Unfortunately they lost their match in the semi-final, but we are extremely proud of each and every one of the team.

Small Schools Football

Ashingdon football team went to Waterside Farm in Canvey, on Tuesday, to play in the small schools football festival. The format was round robin, where every team plays each other once, and the winner goes through to the County Finals. The games are 12 minutes straight through with normal FA rules applying. Five Schools entered the competition. Our results as follows.

Kingston 0-1 Ashingdon

Ashingdon 0-0 Woodham Ley

Ashingdon 3-1 St Katherines

Ashingdon 3-0 Wyburns

So four matches played.

3 Won

1 Draw

0 Losses

7 Scored

1 Conceded

Woodham Ley, who we drew with, had similar results which left us joint top position and had to be decided by goal average. Woodham Ley scored 12 goals to our 7, and conceding 0, which meant that they went through to the County Finals. Ashingdon played really well in their first Tournament outside Hockley Traders, and they got their rewards. We received a call from Deanes informing us that the top two teams go through to the finals. So well deserved. Well done to you all.

Girls Football Ashingdon V Plumberow

Today, Plumberow Academy visited Ashingdon Academy to play a Girls' League football match.

Ashingdon are a new team, and, as in all their sport at the moment, they are trying to find their feet.

Plumberow started the game well and quickly scored. This settled Ashingdon down a little, and some nice defending kept Plumberow at bay. Eventually though, Plumberow got through to score the 2nd, and went in at half time 0 v 5 up.

In the second half, Ashingdon quickly scored with a fine effort through the keeper's legs. Plumberow steadied the ship and ended up 1 v 10 winners.

A fine display by both schools. Ashingdon, to their credit, never gave up, which bodes well for the future. Plumberow on this occasion were too strong, but I believe Ashingdon’s sport is improving, and, with the right attitude and same never-give-up mentality that they showed today, the only way is forward.
