Relationships, Sex and Health Education
Key principles
Academies Enterprise Trust is committed to fulfilling its obligations under the 2020 Relationships and Sex Education legislation and guidance
We are committed to ensuring that:
high quality, evidence-based and age-appropriate teaching of these subjects effectively helps prepare pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.
the teaching of these subjects also promotes the spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental and physical development of our pupils, at school and in society.
relationship and sex education (RSE) is accessible for all pupils (subject to statutory guidance) including those with special educational needs and disabilities.
We refer to the guidance for the preparing for adulthood outcomes, as set out in the SEND code of practice, when preparing these subjects for those with SEND.
At Trust level, our RSE policies are monitored by our Designated Safeguarding Lead under the guidance of our National Director of Education. The policies are reviewed annually and approved by the AET Trustees. This policy will next be reviewed in June 2024.
Implementation at academy level is the responsibility of each Head/Principal, with feedback given by the Academy Council.
