Hi I will talk about my favourite music band. My favourite music group is Mavi-Gri. The band is a rock band that has been in Turkey since 2005 but they shined in 2016. The meaning of the bands name was inspired by İstanbul. They thought it was the harmony of the blue of the sky and sea with the misty gray of the city. The songs that became turning point for the group a “Ben sende yandım”, “O ben olamam” and “Altüst olmuşum”

Hello! I consider myself a person who doesn't have a musical style, because I listen to almost everything, but of course I have my singers that I listen more! The first is called Orochi and he is a Brazilian singer. His musical style is Trap. I also like The weeknd, Bruno Mars and Olivia Rodrigo, who are three English singers.

Most of my time, I listen to music. I listen in car trips, when I'm studying, when I’m cleaning my rooms, etc.. Music makes me relax a lot and I love listening to music. I think that’s it, goodbye.

(Joana Silva)

I chose music because it's a topic that I really like. I listen to music basically every day, listening to music calms me down and when I listen to music, it relieves me from stress and I stop thinking about my problems. I like listening to different singers, but I usually listen to more funk and rap songs. The Singer I usually listen to the most is MC IG and the song I listen to the most is "400k", which is also from this Singer. MC IG sings a lot of brazilian funk songs.

(Natacha Veríssimo)

Hello! My name is Rita and I'm 14 years old.

I like many singers and types of music but my favorite is Orochi.

Orochi whose real name is Flávio César Castro was born on March 24, 1999 and is currently 25 years old.

Orochi, is a Brazilian rapper, singer and songwriter, he has become one of the best known names in the national rap and trap scene. His music usually addresses themes such as life in the peripheries, social inequality and personal experiences. Orochi began his career at a young age and quickly gained popularity with his impactful lyrics and unique style. In addition, he is known for his collaborations with other renowned artists in the Brazilian music scene.

Some of his songs are "Celebridade", "Até de manhã " and "Lobo".

I particularly like all the songs, I can't choose a favorite, everything he does is good and addictive to listen to.

(Rita Amaral)

Nowadays, music is heard by almost everyone, I would say it is therapy because I tend to listen to it a lot and it is what distracts me. When I’m bored, doing sports or on a nice sunny day, I love listening to music. I don’t have a specific type of music, I like to listen to all types depending on how I’m feeling at the moment. I prefer happy music that I can dance to and identify with.

Music is what inspires me and makes me happy to listen to.

In my opinion, everyone should listen to music because it is an example of art that is impossible not to like and it can brighten many lives.

(Clara Azevedo)

Hello everyone, today I’m going to talk about my opinion involving cinema. I love cinema, my favourite film is "Uncharted" because it is an action film and for me these are the best films. My favourite actor is Tom Cruise. I love to watch his films. If you like action or adventure films I really recommend it . I like going to the cinema because we can watch the best quality films with good sound and I like going there with my friends.

(Francisco Barbosa)

Cinema, the seventh art, is a powerful way to tell stories and transmit emotions.

Since the first public exhibition of the Lumière brothers in 1895, it has evolved into a global industry that influences culture and society.

Hollywood is an important center, but other regions, such as Bollywood and European cinema, also have a great impact.

New technologies, such as CGI and streaming, continue to transform cinema, making it more accessible and diverse.

Cinema is not just entertainment; it is an art form that reflects and shapes the human experience.

One of my favorite hobbies is going to the movies even though I can't go many times.

When I can't go to the movies, I watch movies and series at home on Netflix, it's something I really like to do when I have free time and I don't know what to do.

More than just a form of entertainment, cinema is a powerful tool for telling stories, transmitting emotions and connecting people from different cultures.

It offers us a window to different worlds, allowing us to experience other realities and perspectives, enriching our understanding of the human being and society.

(Rita Amaral)

Hi, you're probably already familiar with "cinema", which is very popular these days. Cinema is one of the most impactful forms of art and entertainment and, in addition to entertaining us, it has the power to educate, inspire and provoke deep discussions about social, political and cultural issues. Cinema is a dynamic art in constant evolution.

I really like cinema, I love watching films and series, especially horror ones, action and romance are my favorites. I love going to the cinema, but I often can't go and watch films on television or on the "Netflix" application.

My favorite film is "Titanic", the film is a true story but also a romance. The film is based on the real-life sinking of the RMS Titanic, a British luxury liner that sank in 1912 after colliding with an iceberg. The film also shows the experiences of the passengers, but mainly the sad romance of "Jack and Rose", which was prevented from happening because they were from different social classes. The proof of love that they both make during the film is really more impactful. The main actors are: Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, who in my opinion played very well in this film.

I also really like several films and other types, but this film really left a lasting impression on me and I continued to watch it several times as if it were the first time I had seen it. If you like these types of films, I really recommend this one, as you will definitely like it.

In my opinion, cinema is one of the most powerful forms of artistic and cultural expression. It has the unique ability to transport viewers to different worlds, times and experiences.

2nd Term - Some of our texts...

Hello everyone ! I’m Joana and today I'm going to talk about my future plans.

After finishing high school, I want to go to a university of medicine or biomedical laboratory sciences, because I love the anatomy of the human body and everything about medicine. It is something I certainly want in my future, regardless of the clinical area. I am aware of the difficulty to entering a course as medicine, which is why I always have a plan B (Biomedical Laboratory Sciences). I would also like to study outside my country because it would be an experience I have never experienced before and it would be a dream and I can also broaden my horizons!!

I love living in Portugal, but for sure, one of my dreams is living in France or the Netherlands.

I hope I can make my dream come true, not only to have a good financial life with my future family that I will raise, but to work and be HAPPY!

(Joana Silva)

Hi, I'm Constança and I'm in the 9th grade, about to go to High school.

It is at this age that we have to know who we are, what we want and why we are here.

I honestly don't know what to pursue as a job, there is a huge variety of professions, maybe sports, but I also love animals and children, maybe medicine. I've thought about languages too, I've thought about everything, but I'm afraid one day I will regret what I chose.

Our “small” choices begin at this age, which will later be big and those choices will make us someone.

Due to this great doubt that I have regarding my future, I will choose science, as in addition to feeling comfortable in the subjects, it will open the way to a wide range of successful jobs.

My dream is to study abroad, more specifically in Oxford, I know it's too expensive but I believe that nothing is impossible and as long as I have it in my dreams, there will be no failure in my academic career.

If I manage to become a pediatrician, which is one of my choices, I mainly hope to be happy, earn well, be successful, but never lose contact with my friends and family. I want to have a relaxed life and do what I like. I'd like a job with good interaction with people and a good environment because when you are alone, everything becomes more boring. I hope to become someone independent and improve as a person and discover and develop new talents.

I'd like to become a pediatrician because I like helping children and medicine. I think it is necessary for a person to enjoy what they do, to always feel enthusiastic, happy and creative, but it is also necessary to have patience, care and charisma for people, in order to be able to live in a better world, achieve more and more goals and also become a better person.

I hope to never leave sport  aside because I've been practising sports since I was a child.

I believe that if we want, dream and fight, what we say today will become the future.

Mapping my future

Hello everyone! My name is Ines and I’m 15 years old. Today I’m going to tell you what I intend to do in the future.

After finishing high school, I want to go to university to study mathematics, which I’m really passionate about. Sometimes I think I want to study abroad because I would be able to learn new things and broaden my horizons, but I don’t want to feel homesick.

I don’t really know what profession I want to follow but I’m really sure it has something to do with math. I want to be a successful person even if it means I have to study every day, every hour.

I don’t want to live in the city because of the loud noise, I want to live somewhere quiet with the sound of nature. I also want to have a healthy life and especially be happy and proud of myself.

I don’t know if I’m going to have a lot of time to have fun with my friends and family but I hope so, they are really special to me.

Despite everything, my most important goal is to be happy.

2nd Meeting online - 18th March 2024

1st Term - Some of our texts...

Studying abroad

Studying abroad for a year allows teens to learn a new language and culture, tasting new foods and visit places theyve never seen before. At the same time, they become more responsible and autonomous. These types of programmes are also important to create bonds and new friends, which will be memories, experiences for life. Exchange students may struggle to find friends at first, but once they get used to the new setting and acquire some language skills, they can expand their horizons. Meeting new friends can promote emotional and personal development in a way that you can't imagine.

Erasmus is an example of an exchange programme, which implies new routines and sometimes we even have to be psychologically ready for a big change and that usually scares us, having to "hit the road”. Unfortunately, student exchange programmes do not work for all students and may become a real challenge.

Being in a foreign country thousands of miles away from family is not easy. Even if the adaptation goes well and a student uses video calls and messengers to keep in touch with the family, homesickness can still be an obstacle to enjoying the host country.

Exchange programmes can be a not-so-welcoming experience if students find it difficult to make friends, not fitting in. Those who feel uncomfortable participating in events, including themselves in groups, and initiating conversations feel lost and lonely.

Most of the time, exchange students live on campus or in a host family. Getting along with adults who set their own rules and feel responsible for you may be difficult, especially given the language barrier and cultural differences.

Aqueloutro marinheiro, porque me vê vir sem nada, dá-me tanta borregada como arrais lá do barreiro”.

What is the number of pi

The number 'Pi' is a constant used in mathematical calculations. This constant, which is generally used in its abbreviated form as 3.14 or 22/7, is known as the ratio of the circumferere to the diameter of a circle. This number is also referred to in some sources as the Ludolph number or the Constant of Archimedes. Pi Symbol, 16th of the Greek alphabet It is the letter, also the 16th letter in the English alphabet is the letter p. This letter is also the first letter of the Greek word 'perimetier', which means environment (circle). The symbol Pi (π) was introduced by William Jones in 1706, but it was popularised by Leonhard Euler in 1737. Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 every year. This date is denoted numerically by 3/14. At the same time, Albert Einstein was born on Pi day.

Christmas

Christmas in Portugal is a celebration traditionally marked by a combination of religious and cultural traditions. The festivities begin on Christmas Eve, December 24th, when families gather for Christmas dinner. This meal is typically composed of special dishes, such as cod, octopus, turkey, and traditional sweets such as “sonhos”, “rabanadas”, and “bolo-rei”.

Midnight marks the beginning of Christmas Day, when many people attend the Midnight Mass, a religious ceremony that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. After the mass, some families exchange gifts, while others do so the next morning.

Christmas Day is often spent with the family, with special meals and moments of interaction. In some regions of Portugal, there are specific local traditions associated with Christmas, such as singing “Janeiras” (door-to-door songs) and theatrical performances of biblical scenes.

In short, Christmas in Portugal is a festive season marked by sharing, tradition, and family joy.

(Pedro Costa)

New Year

Reflexão final das professoras envolvidas no projeto - maio 2023

Teachers' evaluation:

Now that our project is ending, it's time to evaluate and reflect about it.

It has been a long way since September... It has also been a trip of emotions and a learning process for me. Fortunately I chose a fantastic partner and a very working class in Turkey. It was very demanding but at the same time very rewarding, both professionaly and personally.

I think we always had common goals and a shared plan. All the students have contributed to all the project's activities and there was a truly collaboration between all of us. We have used many digital technological tools and taken into consideration data protection and copyright issues. We have also used a variety of pedagogical methods and the project was rooted in the school curriculum. Students also developed skills and competences.

Unfortunately in February we had to put the project in a stand by mode because of the earthquake that hit our eTwinners' city. Our prayers were with them and we sent them all our love. But they were strong enough to "reborn" and continue with us! And in March we restarted our activities.

In  my opinion the worst part was just the functioning of the platform because I had many difficulties in uploading files, photos, etc. and managing the pages.

In conclusion, I must say this was a very challenging journey but very rewarding too. This was my first project ever and I am ready to start other projects and to learn more and more.

Thank you Hasibe Yalçınkaya!

Thank you my sudents!

Thank you Turkish eTwinners!

See you soon! (Next year maybe we go to your city to meet you personally!

(14th May 2023)

It was a huge journey for us; first we decided to make this project together, we emailed each other in summer and started talking about the project process. There was a handicap with the platform, it was really annoying the main idea was to know each other’s cultures, traditions, foods etc. we had a lot of online meetings, talked on the phone, chatted in the WhatsApp to negotiate the details. Meanwhile, there was a big problem: my profile wasn’t in the platform so I couldn’t be a member of the project. I thought we couldn’t manage to collaborate but at last I became a member of the project officially.

I chose my students and added them into the platform, we created logos for the project and we chose the best logo for Turkish team and Angela chose best logo for her team. We had decided to have two logos for the project. The first online meeting was great! My students were really excited and worried. It wasn’t their first online meeting but they were really nervous. It was very enjoyable and encouraging, we created a padlet so they could add their introductions. We talked about our school, our countries, we created videos about our schools and cities so we could see the differences and similarities. Then Portuguese team created a video about Christmas; it was amazing, we really enjoyed it. Angela and her students were awesome; they had a great performance. In February we prepared a slide about a balance diet and sports. We put it into the Twinspace.

Then Angela created the padlet “eTwinning café” for students to chat, so our students could ask questions and answer them. We were planning to do something in March (plogging) but we couldn’t because of the massive earthquake in my area. It was devastating; so many people died; 15 millions of people were affected by it . Angela texted me messages everyday saying her best wishes for us. Then in March our school opened again and we started the project again; we had to do something; we had to move on to heal. It was really good for us to be busy with school work. It was great to collaborate. In April we had to prepare a Ramadan video so my students worked really hard for it. They did their best. In May we had our last online meeting with students but there was a tech problem with the platform but in spite of all the problems, we could have a great experience together.

This project is collaboration, sharing, learning and in short it’s the beauty of sharing. Angela and I became friends forever, we learned a lot from each other and we worked really hard. eTwinning hopefully opens the minds of our students.
