Jaquelyn Morton, senior at AEA, is running for student council President this year.
Morton is an active member of the student council again this school year.
“I joined the student council this year because it's my last year at AEA, and I want to make a change that will last after I graduate,” she said. “I have been in Student Council several times before this, and we have done fun stuff for the school. But, I plan to do more for not only the school events, but also for the students to get them to appreciate the school.”
She hopes to gain more skills to communicate better with people. Morton is a natural leader and hopes to be able to channel that into her time in Student Council. She wants everyone who joins to have an equal chance to share their ideas.
Jaquelyn has many ideas on how to improve the school and student body. “I want to work with staff to help them understand how to better understand our students from every angle possible,” she said.
She was drawn to the role because she thinks that a senior should have a big say in what happens in the school. She hopes to help the upcoming seniors when it comes time for them to take on the role. Jaquelyn hopes to make the school a better place as student council president.
