Additional Items Needed for Freshman Honors Program Application
1) Admission Essay: Please pick one of the following prompts and send a 400- 500 word essay response.
Caring for humanity and the world: Most people have one topic or issue they are passionate about. If you had 10 minutes to speak to the Adrian College community, what would you talk about, and why?
Learning throughout a lifetime: Pick one action or skill that you have not mastered. Explain why it is important and why you would like to master that skill at some point in life. Or explain why you do not want to master that skill.
Thinking Critically: At Adrian College, we recognize that students hold more value than just their academic standing. Please pick one experience you have had in your life, academic or otherwise, and explain how it shapes who you are today.
Crossing Boundaries and Disciplines: Think of a global cultural standard or idea that is not currently utilized in the United States. If you had one year and unlimited resources, what standard or idea would you implement and why? Explain why this idea would benefit the US population and why it is important to you.
Developing Creativity: Pick between a piece of art or pop culture (a book, piece of artwork, song, picture, etc) and write about how it has impacted you and your personal growth. (Do not simply describe the piece of art or pop culture; instead, focus on its effect on you)
2) Admission Resume: Please send a resume highlighting leadership experience, service to the community, and academic honors or awards received.
(Send to Katie Buckley kbuckley@adrian.edu or Olivia Sotelo osotelo@adrian.edu )
