Application Period/Due Date: Spring 2025

Criteria:

Awarded to students who are trying to reduce health disparities and improve behavioral health-care outcomes for racially and ethnically diverse populations by increasing their cultural competency to serve racial/ethnic minority populations. 

Eligibility:

1. An advanced (final year or advanced standing), direct practice–focused, master’s-level commitment to providing mental health and/or substance use disorder services to racial/ethnic minority populations. 

2. American Citizenship, non-citizen national, or permanent residency (international students, DACA students, and work visa holders are not eligible to apply)

3. Service in an appropriate internship/placement setting providing mental health and/or substance use disorder services to racial/ethnic minority populations (must provide documentation from the program).

4. Completion or upcoming completion of at least two advanced master’s of social work courses in one or both of following categories: 

   • mental health and/or co-occurring substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery. 

   • culturally competent evidence-based practices.
