Awarded to students who are trying to reduce health disparities and improve behavioral health-care outcomes for racially and ethnically diverse populations by increasing their cultural competency to serve racial/ethnic minority populations.
An advanced (final year or advanced standing), direct practice–focused, master’s-level commitment to providing mental health and/or substance use disorder services to racial/ethnic minority populations.
American Citizenship, non-citizen national, or permanent residency (international students, DACA students, and work visa holders are not eligible to apply)
Service in an appropriate internship/placement setting providing mental health and/or substance use disorder services to racial/ethnic minority populations (must provide documentation from the program).
Completion or upcoming completion of at least two advanced master’s of social work courses in one or both of following categories:
mental health and/or co-occurring substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery.
culturally competent evidence-based practices.
