From Math 1, which is the building of pupils’ understanding in counting wherein the concept of addition and subtraction of 1 digit and 2 digit numbers are further explored through comparison, mental math, estimation, and with or without regrouping, pupils then go through different levels continuing to Math 2 up to Math 5 where they are made to understand the details of addition and subtraction of whole numbers, decimal, and fractions then multiplication and division of whole numbers. Geometric concepts, measurements and statistics are also further enhanced. Further, basic Math is integrated with set and number theories, geometry, algebra, and statistics which are discussed in topics with more depth and increased complexity which exposes students to deeper data interpretation to draw conclusion. With increasing complexity of problems in basic mathematics, algebra, and statistics in Math 6 wherein Algebra is designed into a pre-algebra course, pupils are already being prepared for the first year high school math.
