Rome wasn’t built overnight and so was his career. From being a student achiever who loves to post pictures on social media as an expression to a star being admired by thousands of people.
The birth of a rising star, a Nebulae, or in this case, Raven Rigor. Despite being a new face in the industry, he sure is making his way to the top as he became part of the hit T.V. series Dirty Linen together with the country’s biggest actors.
He is Raven Rigor, and this is his story.
Raven Rigor’s shifts from online classes to show business
Taking up Medical Technology in St. Louis University in Baguio, it never crossed his mind that he’ll be pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. His desire to cling to a degree in medicine didn’t give him any motive for shooting a shot in the mainstream.
“Showbiz came at a time that I wasn’t really prepared,” he said.
The struggle of adjusting with online classes and college added pressure during his decision-making process.
Aside from the fact that it was offered during the pandemic in 2021, Raven’s personality seemed to be parallel with what the show business requires. He described himself as introverted and that sort of led him to having an option not to take the opportunity.
Although the fear of fulfilling a role in showbiz is all over his head, it was his parents who motivated him to take a step-in front of the camera and start making a name.
“My parents pushed me to try kasi wala namang mawawala,” he said.
What Raven Rigor had to let go
As he entered the door, he knew that there would be things to relinquish to further. Despite being an achiever in school, it was his time for academics that became his biggest sacrifice upon getting under way.
“It was hard because I really wanna do good in school, but at the same time, hahatiin ko ‘yung time ko to do showbiz,” Raven said.
As someone who’s close to his family, it also saddens him that it’ll be less time than the usual he could provide for his family since he must be in Manila most of the time.
“Siguro, na-sacrifice rin ‘yung time ko with my family kasi I always have to be in Manila,” he said.
“Minsan, hindi ko sila makikita ng mga 4 months gano’n,” he added.
Raven Rigor vs. The World
Just like the other personalities, the craft had to be learned from the scratch, and a tread to step on that is to build a good relationship with his co-actors which he found difficult because of his shy and timid personality.
It was in 2021 when he joined the Squad Plus in ABS-CBN’s youtube channel along with famous teen actors Andrea Brillantes, Francine Diaz, Seth Fedelin, and Kyle Echarri.
Because of his introversion, he admitted that starting a conversation with his co-actors was a struggle for him. It took him time to draw comfort that makes socializing with new people normal to him.
“Personally, I think I still come off as really shy, I still get really anxious when I’m in a public setting,” Raven admitted.
Despite this, Raven slowly accepted that mingling with people is a part of his job. He also recognized partying as his way of getting out of his comfort zone where he at the same time, could look for connections in the industry.
“I think I’ve come a long way sa dating ako,” he declared.
Raven Rigor’s Realization
The exposure that the industry has provided him several opportunities that benefit his career, and it also tells the whole nation about who and what Raven Rigor could do.
Although having a stethoscope around his neck was his first dream, he also found the beauty in playing different characters. He fell in love not with the spotlight that the industry gave him, but with the purpose he thought he should fulfill.
“My path was redirected, though I've somehow adjusted, I still got a lot of things to learn,” he said.
Raven Rigor in Dirty Linen
Being surrounded by veteran actors after two shows was something he was not expecting when he entered the industry. He expressed his utmost appreciation for being included in the cast of the hit TV series “Dirty Linen”.
“Grabe ‘yung privilege no’n yung mapasama sa gano’n part of that (casting). Parang a lot of people would really want that. Looking back, it was really a privilege,” Raven said.
But working with the big stars comes with a big shadow of criticism and pressure creeping in. Being a young actor, there’s no denying that he had less experience of acting in comparison to his co-stars.
“Added pressure talaga, the amount of experience ko sa acting,” he said.
“And ‘yung pagiging uh hirap talaga ako maki-mingle sa people,” he added.
He recalled being approached by the veteran actors advising him to do well for the show. The pressure took a toll on him but his on screen mother, Angel Aquino, told him to not be hard on himself.
However, being in the spotlight always comes with a pair of public eyes, and privacy is something one should treasure, and Raven attests to that since knowing how to handle it is something he learned overtime.
“I’m a really private person and maliit lang talaga ‘yung circle ko (of friends). Onti lang talaga friend ko specially in showbiz,” he said.
“I think you really need to have an armor to protect yourself and kailangan talaga matatag ka,” he added.
Raven Rigor as a Protostar
But what is the next step for the rising star? Raven wants to further enhance his skills in acting in hopes to do well.
“Parang ayon na ‘yung mas naging calling ko na I really want to do well.” he mentioned.
But the actor wants to finish his studies as well.
“I want to finish school too, para matapos na siya,” he added.
His risk led him to a road he’s unfamiliar with but as he explores, he learned how to love the thrill of not knowing and learning what’s next.
He is a nebula waiting to be a supernova, shining brightly in the universe. This is Raven Rigor, and this is his story.
