Parent Meeting

MRHS Girls Golf "No Cut" Program

The MRHS Girls golf program works from a philosophy of introducing female athletes to the game of golf. Our program accepts players of all ability levels and works to improve player performance and understanding of the game during our season from February to May.

Team Fees: Athletic Fee$150 and Uniform Fee $50

Billed to Student Account. Additional uniform items can be purchased through the golf program at player/parent discretion

Program Goals

Integrity: What you do when no one else is watching.

Perseverance: Overcoming obstacles that are both physical and emotional.

Responsibility: Athlete, Rules Official and Scorer.

Competition: Providing an opportunity to compete and measure personal growth.

Playing Opportunities

Three Levels of Competition:

League Matches: 18 hole events that generally take between 5 to 6 hours to complete. Generally 9 players; 5 playing for Front Range League Conference positions. 4 JV players getting a broader 18 hole competitive experience.

Invitational Matches: 18 hole events that generally take between 5 to 6 hours to complete. Generally 4 player teams competing against a wider cross section of other high schools beyond the Front Range League.

Dual Matches: 9 hole events that are generally for players new to competitive golf and are building a competitive playing foundation.

Golf Practices are held off-site. Generally a mix of locations including Golf Wright Academy (indoor practice facility), Riverdale Golf Course, Hyland Hills, and Greenway Park.

Practices Generally run from 4:00pm to 5:30 during the season.

Transportation to practices is the player's responsibility.

Golf competitions are held during the weekday with the annual exception of the Chilly Chili invite contested on a Saturday.

18 hole events are generally and all-day commitment with school transportation supplied if the event is more than 10 miles from MRHS.

9 hole events are generally contested later in the afternoon and have less of an impact on the school day.

Players missing school for events are excused through the golf program and have the day plus one to get makeup materials to teachers.

Balancing Life and Golf

Players hoping to compete at the V and JV level generally will need to create work schedules that are Friday through Sunday to avoid conflicts with golf practices and events.

Academics are checked weekly. A player with a single F is not allowed to miss school to travel to or compete in an event. If the event is hosted after school hours the athlete will be allowed to attend with parent permission. Players with 2 or more F's are ineligible to play in any events OR practice with the team during the progress report cycle. The following Monday through Friday.

Important Upcoming Dates

February 15th-February 22nd: Athletic Paperwork and Fee acceptance in Main Office

Do not bring your athletic paperwork to the coaching staff

February 27th and 28th: Team meetings in C136 MRHS 3:15-4:30

Will confirm Paperwork, check out golf bags and set playing schedule for the season

February 29th Start of Practice off-site (Will be weather dependent)

Inclement weather practices at Golf Wright Academy and standard practices at Riverdale, Hyland Hills or Greenway Park.

Monthly, Weekly and Daily Scheduling.

A monthly schedule will be provided and we will adhere to it as well as mother nature allows.

Each Sunday a weekly schedule will be posted via email and will be used for additional scheduling changes. Any change to or cancellation of a practice will happen by 12 noon to allow for changes in transportation needs.

Mother Nature and Golf Courses dictate our practices/events and we hope for the best each week. It is imperative that the players have established a clear channel of communication with the coaching staff. "I did not know about a change..." is not an acceptable reason to miss a practice/event.
