Open an account with National Bank of Dominica (NBD) to receive disbursement of your Financial Aid and/or ACSOM Loan. In addition to receiving your disbursements quickly, you will reduce charges for international checking card use and you will not have a fee for ATM withdrawals in Dominica. An NBD representative will be on campus during Orientation Week to meet with you and answer any questions you may have. You may also contact amanda@acsom.edu.dm for additional guidance.
To open a bank account with NBD, students are required to provide the following documents:
Government-issued photo identification (e.g., passport)
Signed Lease Agreement (Dominica)
Letter from ACSOM which should state the following.
Confirmation of acceptance.
Confirmation and frequency of student loan.
A reference letter from your current bank OR current bank statements for the last 6 months. This is easier to complete while you are still in your home country.
Initial minimum deposit of XCD$110.00 or USD $42.00.
Additional information may be requested by NBD (e.g. ACSOM loan approval document/source of funds).
Please complete the Customer Self-Update form seen below. Forward the completed document with the required documents to atelemaque@nbd.dm, jromain@nbd.dm, mmeade@nbd.dm, and privatebanking@nbd.dm. Upon receipt and review of all pertinent documentation submitted by students, kindly allow a period of 3 to 5 working days for a thorough review. Provided that all documentation requirements are satisfied within the specified timeline, NBD is confident that the accounts will be fully activated.
