The curse of the class clown is becoming a teacher. Perhaps it is the perfect penitence. My education in New York's Parochial school system caused the clown to rebel, yet the quality of instruction helped offer a struggling actor a second career. I realized my love for the theatre was enhanced by its power to educate. While balancing my art with survival, one part-time job teaching Hassidic 5th graders in Brooklyn changed my path forever. Graduate study, teaching certification, and student teaching at Bronx High School of Science began a new and exciting journey. The "new" may be long gone, but the "exciting" is there each year, without fail, in every student's smile.
