by Iris Barkett

Who is Stephen King? Well, I am glad you asked. You probably know him from the book Carrie, The Shining and IT. Or the new movie that came out recently “It 2.” His books are iconic everyone knows the name, Stephen King. So who is Stephen King?

Stephen King was born on September 21, 1947, in Portland, Maine. He went to the University of Maine, and after school, he was a teacher as he tried to establish his writing. He wrote a number of books under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. He has sold 350 million copies worldwide, and is thought of as one of the successful horror writers of all time.

Stephen king’s parents Donald and Nellie Ruth Pillsbury King, split up when he was really young. So he split his time between Indiana and Connecticut. But he later moved back to Maine.

In 1973 he finished his first novel “Carie.” It became a huge success, thus letting him quit his job as a teacher and focus fully his writing.

He is married to Tabitha King, and they have two sons, Joe Hill and Owen King. His wife and both of his sons are novelist as well.

His work talks about a variety of things this includes political power, human life, obsession, and family. He has also explored almost every terror-producing theme imaginable, this includes things like vampires, clowns, rabid dogs, deranged killers, a pyromaniac, biological warfare, and many more.

To quote on of his books, “Did they live happily ever after? They did not. No one ever does, in spite of what the stories may say. They had their good days, as you do, and they had their bad days, and you know about those. They had their victories, as you do, and they had their defeats, and you know about those, too. There were times when they felt ashamed of themselves, knowing they had not done their best, and there were times when they knew they had stood where their God had meant them to stand. All I’m trying to say is that they lived as well as they could.”—The Eyes of the Dragon
