About Your Science Teacher

Hello all my science trailblazers! I would like to share a little bit about myself so you can get to know me. I love all things living and appreciate all of nature's patterns.

All organisms are connected in some way and have an impact on our environment. Understanding the interconnectedness of organisms and their environment is the first step to empowering individuals with the ability to make influential decisions and changes to improve our communities.

My Educational and Teaching Background:

I graduated from CSU, Long Beach with a Bachelor’s in Science, Chemistry Minor and Ecology Option. I continued onto grad school at CSU, Long Beach to obtain my Master’s in Biology with the intent to teach. I then taught a wide range of science classes across Fullerton College, Santa Ana College, Long Beach City College and CSU, Long Beach. I moved up north in 2015 to teach at Butte College for two years. I then decided to go back to school and was accepted into the RiSE program at CSU, Chico that entailed simultaneously obtaining a Master’s in Education and Single Subject Science Credential all in one year. I graduated just in time to be a part of the Achieve High School Trailblazers!

Fun Fact About Me:

As a student at CSU, Long Beach, I applied for a job at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles that entailed going to Peru where I caught a new fly species and published two scientific papers that included six new species I was able to name! “Nothing ventured, nothing gained!” Be brave to take risks that will provide you with success.
