President Trump announced the nomination of Zachary Bluestone to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. Bluestone is the appellate chief in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Missouri and was previously a deputy solicitor general in the Missouri Attorney General’s office.
A Conservative Pick With Less Than A Decade Of Experience
Bluestone graduated from law school and was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 2016. He has therefore practiced law for less than a decade.
Bluestone’s professional background focused on criminal litigation in the AG’s office and U.S. attorney’s offices.
He was reportedly a member of then-Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley’s “Federalism Unit” which sued the federal government in an attempt to strike down the Affordable Care Act, supported concealed carry legislation, and attacked the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
