Parent Orientation FAQ:

The following questions were asked during the Parent Orientation, so we wanted to reshare the answers with you for future reference.

1. How do we turn in the completed summer packet?

   • When you have the file opened on Kami, there’s a button that says Turn In in the top right corner. It will turn it in to Google Classroom.

2. When does school start?

   • Monday, August 24th, 2020 at 8:30am

3. Do we still need to get the school supplies? Is the supply list the same?

   • Yes, you still need to get the school supplies. Yes, the supply list is the same.

4. When is the school supplies drop off day?

   • There will NOT be a school supplies drop off day since your student will be working from home, at least for now. The supplies need to remain with the student--at home--in order to be beneficial.

5. How can we purchase the bundle since the link is closed?

   • A new date will be designated for new orders, and we will let you know when that is announced.

6. When is the PE uniform day? They have PE every day though, so do they wear it every day?

   • Thursday is the 3rd-5th grade PE uniform day. Yes, the students have PE every day, but they are only required to wear the PE uniform on Thursdays.

7. Will notifications of assignments on Google Classroom be received by the students and parents?

   • No. Students will know what assignments they need to work on (and when assignments are due) since class is LIVE every day, so they will be told by the teachers directly, just as they would in a physical school setting. Parents will NOT be notified of assignments. It is the students’ responsibility to complete assignments during school time as guided and directed by the teacher.

8. When will you use Google Meet vs. Google Hangouts?

   • Google Meet will be how we conduct classes LIVE every day, including special area classes. We will not be using Google Hangouts, at least for now.

9. Is a webcam mandatory?

   • Yes, and it needs to be on at all class times. This is how we verify that your student is present during class, just as he/she would be physically present at school.

10. Do we need to download FortifyFL?

    • No. It is an app to help maintain security and safety, but it is not required. If you see something, please say something--to us, so we can handle it.

11. Do we need to send a text to get access to Remind like the last few years?

    • That is one way you can be added to our Remind list. Please refer to the Teacher Info page on my website for detailed instructions.

12. Do we need to add both of your classes on Remind?

    • Yes. Please add Ms. Cawley’s class (@cawleyela) AND Ms. Dominguez’s class (@cdacsw) to receive our notifications. Please refer to the Teacher Info page on my website for detailed instructions.
