Art Teacher, B. Everett Jordan Elementary
Mrs. Andrea Cheek holds a bachelor of fine arts from Henderson State in Arkansas. Deciding to teach public school art after 12 years of a professional career as a free-lance artist makes her a “highly-qualified” teacher. She has had multiple one-woman, and juried exhibitions in galleries from places such as California, Hawai’i, and Mexico to mention a few.
She loves to work with children in art of many different media, working across the curriculum. She focuses on cooperative learning and unity, while making learning fun!
Parents and guardians, feel free to email Mrs. Cheek if you would like to come in to make art with the children, volunteer to assist the little artists, or just reminisce your art school days.
We are always welcoming art donations, supplies and materials.
Also, please be sure to sign up your child with the Artsonia website to see his/her masterpieces.
What a great school year 2018-19 will be!
Tips on helping cultivating the artist:
•allow a quiet, well-lit work space
•be sure and have sharpened pencils and copy paper available for their use
•encourage the artist with honest and kind criticism
•encourage drawing from life examples; fruit, shoes, cups, etc.
