Welcome back students! Although this will only by my fourth year as a classroom teacher, I have spent the last 28 years of my life as a professional musician. For the newcomers, here's a little bit about my background: Prior to moving to Gibsonville in June of 2017, I was a Trumpeter with The United States Air Force Band in Washington DC for 22 and a half years and a Trumpeter with the USAF Band of the Golden West at Travis AFB, California for 2 and a half years. While serving I had the opportunity to perform for people from around the world and also present master classes and clinics to students of all ages, backgrounds, grade levels etc... across the country as part of the USAF Band's educational outreach program. Through these types of interactions, I was able to speak with students about music and help them gain a better understanding of how it is used to not only entertain, but to influence and inspire, as well connect people across cultures and backgrounds communicating through the universal language of music. I look forward to another wonderful year at Woodlawn and I'm excited for the opportunity to help students continue to grow on their instruments, gain a better understanding/appreciation for music and also share many stories/experiences with them from my professional career. In addition to teaching, I am a member of the National Association for Music Education, The International Trumpet Guild , a member of the North Carolina Brass Band, one of our countries only professional brass bands, and perform as a freelance trumpeter for weddings, church serveries and other other special occasions in the local area.
