Purpose/mission: Project SEARCH serves people with disabilities through innovative workforce and career development. Through this process we educate employers about the potential of this underutilized workforce while meeting their human resource needs. Project SEARCH provides employment and education opportunities for individuals with significant disabilities. The program is dedicated to workforce and development that benefits the individual, community, and workplace.
Population served: Students with intellectual and other developmental and physical disabilities.
Services/programs/resources offered: Project SEARCH is a high school or young adult transition initiative which is a business-led, one-year, school-to-work program that combines classroom instruction, career exploration, and relevant job-skills training through strategically designed internships for students with intellectual, physical and other developmental disabilities. Project Search in Alamance County is located at Alamance Regional Medical center where all internship and education takes place.

No cost
Requirements:
18-21 years old
Completed all high school academic credits necessary for graduation
Adapted Curriculum Classroom (ACC): must have completed all academic credits necessary for certificate
Occupational Course of Study (OCS): must have completed all academic credits BUT are lacking Competitive Employment training hours
Meet eligibility requirements for Vocational Rehabilitation
Meet eligibility requirements for Developmental Disabilities Organization and other service providers for follow along services
Have independent personal hygiene and grooming skills
Have independent daily living skills
Maintain appropriate behavior and social skills in the workplace
Take direction from supervisors and change behavior
Be able to communicate effectively (various means)
Have previous experience in a work environment (including school, volunteer, and paid work)
Be able to pass drug screen, felony background check and immunizations up to date
Intends to enter competitive employment upon graduation from Project SEARCH
