Organization name: ABSS Assistive Technology Resource Team
Purpose/mission: The Assistive Technology Resource Team consists of speech pathologists, occupational therapists, an EC teacher and a VI specialist who serve all students within the Alamance-Burlington School System to consider Assistive Technology options that will allow them to access the curriculum.

Services/programs/resources offered:
Training: Our team provides hands-on, in-class training with teachers and instructional assistants for AT equipment and strategies as it relates to their particular students.
AT Consideration/Evaluation: Our Team assesses students who have needs in the areas of alternative writing options, computer access, environmental control, switch use, special needs software and augmentative and alternative communication. We provide them with the necessary equipment to help them access the curriculum.
Teachers, related service professionals or parents may make a request for Assistive Technology evaluation by filling out the Assistive Technology Referral Form and the Parent Permission Form and returning them to Pat Byers, Assistive Technology Lead at 612 Apple St., Burlington, NC. These forms are located under "Make a Referral" tab in the menu bar on the website.
Loaning: Our team loans AT equipment to classrooms/students from our extensive 1000+ item AT loan library.
Online resources: The AT website includes information about various types of AT devices, online AT activities, information for parents, sample IEPs, and "How To" videos.
