NC Innovations Waiver: The NC Innovations Waiver is a Federally approved 1915 C Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services Waiver (HCBS Waiver) designed to meet the needs of Individuals with Intellectual or Development Disabilities (I/DD) who prefer to get long-term care services and supports in their home or community, rather than in an institutional setting. The Medicaid Innovations Waiver supports Individuals with I/DD to live the life they choose. Waiver services are administered by a local management entity/managed care organization (LME/MCO) which facilitate services and oversee a network of community-based service providers. Individuals who receive waiver funding work with their team to develop a Person Centered Plan of Care and request the services and supports they need.
Costs/requirements to participate:
You may be eligible to receive coverage for services if:
You live in one of the counties we serve.
You have an intellectual or developmental disability, mental health, or substance use disorder-related need.
You receive Medicaid, do not have insurance, or your private insurance is not enough.
Coverage Sources:
Medicaid: Most of our members receive services for IDD and behavioral health conditions through Medicaid. Sometimes there are treatments that may not be covered by Medicaid.
NC Innovations Waiver: The NC Innovations waiver allows us to help people living with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) to get extended coverage through Medicaid. It is designed to help you and your family receive services in your home or community.
(b)(3) Services are extra IDD and behavioral health supports for people with Medicaid. They help people with a variety of diagnoses remain in their homes and communities.
State-funded Coverage: If you are not eligible to receive Medicaid or if there is a service you need that is not covered by Medicaid, you may be able to get help through state-funded services. Levels of state-funded coverage are based on your needs and history. In certain cases, you may be subject to a sliding-scale fee, which means you may be responsible for some of the cost.
