IMPORTANT NOTES:
HOMEWORK: Students must have completed their assigned chapter books by tomorrow so that they can take part in our literature circles event. New fiction and non-fiction texts will be assigned for the next cycle of reading homework later this week. One reading response is due each Friday through the month of May.
Tomorrow is the DOUGLAS FUN RUN! I will distribute student t-shirts tomorrow morning. We will be on the Elm Street fields between 10:30-11:15 if you would like to cheer us on!
FIELD TRIP PERMISSION FORMS are coming home today! We will visit the Southwick Zoo on June 10. Two chaperones are free with our entry, though anyone is welcome to join us if you are willing to drive and pay the entrance fee. Social Studies: European Explorers: Motivations and Consequences
We have had fun writing persuasive essays about whether or not we should embark on an oceanic adventure, exploring new land as the European explorers did centuries ago! I look forward to sharing these creative works with you. We will begin reading about the consequences, both positive and negative, of this time in history over the next few weeks.
English Language Arts: Students will be choosing an "expert animal" to research in the coming weeks. They will be creating "choose your own adventure" stories, sharing the non-fiction information that they've researched in a creative way!
Science: Animal Defense Mechanisms: We are excited to combine ELA and science for this close study of how animals adapt for survival! Our upcoming trip to the Southwick Zoo will celebrate this work!
There are MANY events coming up in May and June! Please be sure to take note of the calendar above. Please reach out if you have any questions. Thank you!
