ABRHS Library Student Circulation Policy

Circulation

  • ABRHS students are allowed to check out as many materials as they wish for research, study, and independent pursuits.
  • The library provides an extensive collection of textbooks for student sign out, for in-library use, during individual study periods.


Circulation Periods

  • Fiction and Non-fiction................................................ 4 weeks
  • Kindle e-readers.......................................................... 4 weeks
  • DVDs and Videos......................................................... 1 week
  • Reserve........................................................................ Overnight
  • Back issues of Periodicals............................................ 4 weeks
  • Flash drives, headphones, calculators......................... 1 day
  • Textbooks................................................................... 1 class period
  • Laptops, Chromebooks……………………………………………. 1 class period*

*Failure to return Laptops/Chromebooks to the circulation desk will result in student losing the privilege of checking these out for 1 week.


Renewals

Materials may be renewed multiple times.

Exceptions

  • Special Reserves for a specific class project
  • Materials requested by another student


Overdue Procedures

Materials that are not renewed or returned on or before their due date are not available to other students and teachers who may need or want them, and are considered overdue.

  • Reminder notices are sent to students through their @abschools email.
  • When materials have been overdue for more than three (3) months, a bill will be sent to the home address and/or email address on file for the student and parent, asking for either the materials to be returned, replaced, or for payment to be made for the replacement value of the item(s) within one week. After that time, the student’s account will be frozen, and s/he will be unable to borrow any materials until the fine has been satisfied.
  • The replacement cost for items that are lost or damaged is as follows:
    • Fiction, Narrative Non-Fiction & Memoir ……………… $20
    • Non-Fiction (Reference, Encyclopedias, Series) ......... $75
    • Non-Fiction (Regular) ............................................. $30
    • DVD’s..................................................... $20
    • Flash drives............................................ $15
    • Kindle e-reader / case............................. $50 / $10 + $10/book on Kindle
    • Calculators: Graphing/Regular…………………………….$75/$20


End of Year Procedures

(Upperclassmen)

Seniors

  • Seniors with outstanding obligations will be unable to pick up their cap and gown for graduation until these have been met. Money for library fines and lost materials should be paid directly to a library staff member who will then provide students with proof of payment.

Juniors

  • Juniors with outstanding obligations will be unable to receive their parking lot permit and sticker until these have been met. Money for library fines and lost materials should be paid directly to a library staff member who will then provide students with proof of payment.
