FAQ'sÂ
What if my Chromebook won't turn on?
Plug your charger into the charging port on the Chromebook. Check if the charging light turns on.Â
If the light is red, you will need to wait a few minutes for the battery to charge before it will power on.
If the light doesn’t turn on, ensure all pieces of the charger are connected tightly, switch charging ports on the Chromebook and/or try a different outlet then recheck if the light is on.Â
If the charging light is on, hold down the power button on the right side of the Chromebook and the refresh key on the keyboard at the same time to try to get the device to turn on. If you are still unsuccessful, visit the student help desk during open hours or the library if the help desk is closed.
What if my Chromebook freezes?
Try to use the touch screen in addition to the touchpad and keyboard to shut down the Chromebook.Â
If you are unable to shut it down, hold down the power button on the right side of the Chromebook and choose Power Off
If you are still unable to shut it down, hold down the power button on the right side of the Chromebook for 10 seconds until the light goes off then close the Chromebook.
After 1 minute, reopen the Chromebook and allow it to power on.
If it will not power on by itself, hold down the refresh key on the keyboard and the power button at the same time to try to get the device to turn on. If you are still unsuccessful, visit the student help desk during open hours or the library if the help desk is closed.
What if my Chromebook is lost, stolen or damaged?
If the Chromebook becomes damaged, lost or stolen, please immediately report the damage to the Student Help Desk by emailing hshelpdesk@abschools.org. They will provide further instructions and request that an incident report be completed by a parent/guardian to document the incident.Â
What if my Chromebook needs repair?
Please visit the student help desk and submit a student help desk request if you feel that your Chromebook needs repair.Â
What if I lose my stylus or charger?
In accordance with the Chromebook Loan Agreement, students will be issued one stylus and one charger with their Chromebook. If these parts are lost or intentionally damaged, they will not be replaced by the district and students will be responsible for purchasing their own replacement accessories. You can view more information about replacement accessories here.Â
What if I forget my password?
Please visit the library to have your ABschools password reset.Â
What if I forget to bring my Chromebook or charger to school?
Students must bring their Chromebooks fully charged to school each day along with the Chromebook charger.
If a student forgets their Chromebook or charger, students are encouraged to borrow a charger from a classmate or the library has a limited number of Chromebooks available for same-day borrowing. These materials should not be taken out of the building and must be returned by the conclusion of the school day. Library inventory is limited therefore it isn’t guaranteed that students will be able to borrow a Chromebook from the library if they forget their own.Â
Students are not able to borrow stylus’ from the library.Â
Failure to return a Chromebook to the library will result in the student being held responsible for the replacement cost of these materials.Â
