Week 13 (7/11)

Today:

  • Vocabulary quiz
  • We are going to do a communication activity about some creative solutions to environmental problems.
  • Then we'll brainstorm and/or start researching your final presentation.

For next time: If you want me to check your manuscript for the third presentation, please write it as soon as you can (it needs to be in this folder).

Week 12 (7/4)

Today:

  • First we'll take the vocabulary quiz.
  • Then we'll share our homework reports with a classmate or two.
  • We are going to focus on creative solutions to environmental problems for the remainder of the semester (and also for your final presentation). Today we'll look at the topic of reusing and upcycling old things to reduce garbage (worksheet).

Week 11 (6/27)

Today we will take the vocabulary quiz and then present a few more times (pairing chart, feedback sheet, shared folder). The last time we will record using your smartphones.

If we have some extra time, we will do a speaking practice word game.

For next time, please find a new article or video (any environmental topic, in English or Japanese). Read or watch it, and write a report (summary + reaction) in your portfolio.

Week 10 (6/20)

Today we will take the vocabulary quiz and then present a few times (pairing chart, feedback sheet). Please put your slides in this shared folder and your script in in this folder.

For next week: I will check your slides and script after class. Then please see my comments and corrections and make improvements to your presentation. We will record next time, and as much as possible we will use your smartphones to record. Please try to come with enough charge on your battery.

Week 9 (6/13)

Today:

  • Share your homework report with a classmate or two
  • Look at a few more leftover ideas from last week's quiz game
  • Help each other think of research questions for the topic you have chosen to present next (worksheet)

Prepare your presentation. Your slides need to be in this shared folder when we start presenting, and please put your manuscript in this folder. I will check your slides and manuscript after Day 1 (6/20) so that you can make improvements before presenting and recording on Day 2 (6/27).
