Survey Project

Week 15(7/20)

Today we will:

  • Read journals
  • Work on your final assignments and/or share them with a classmate

Week 14(7/13)

Today we will:

  • Probably NOT read journals, because we need all the time we can get for the surveys. We will finish up your surveys (if you haven't done that on your own), and maybe answer each other's surveys so that I can show you how to view and work with the data you get.

For next week:

  • Write about your plans for the summer vacation in your journal (Entry 14)
  • Try to get at least 20 responses to your survey, and then start writing your report. The target is 400 words.

Week 13(7/6)→休講

  • Finish making your surveys

Week 12(6/29)

Today we will:

  • Read journals
  • Put together your survey

For next week:

  • Please send your survey out and collect data
  • Write about plans/goals/dreams for the future in your journal (Entry 12)

Week 11(6/22)

Today we will:

  • Read journals
  • Do the mini survey we prepared last week
  • Look at an example survey report (videoworksheet)
  • Start to plan your survey

For next week:

  • Choose a survey topic, and write some question ideas.
  • Write about part-time jobs in your journal (Entry 11)

Week 10(6/15)

  • In this unit, you are going to plan and conduct a survey, and then write about the results. Today we will start by thinking about statistics and survey questions, and make a practice questionnaire.

For next week:

  • Write about a favorite celebrity (Entry 10) in your journal

Narrative

Week 9(6/8)

Today we will:

  • Read journal entries
  • Share and analyze each other's narratives, and work on improving them

For next week:

  • Write about a favorite movie/book/comic etc. (Entry 9)

Week 8(6/1)

Today we will:

  • Read journal entries
  • Plan and start writing your narrative

For next week:

  • Finish writing the first draft of your narrative. Write at least 350 words.
  • Write about a prized possession (a thing you own that is important to you) in your journal (Entry 8)

Travel Destination

Week 5(5/11)

  • share and analyze your travel destination compositions
  • learn how to use my feedback comments to improve your writing

  • In your journal, write about a ~ experience (Entry 5).

Week 4(4/27)

Today we will:

  • read each other's journal entries
  • finish analyzing the Phuket composition
  • start planning your travel destination composition

For next time (5/11):

  1. Write your Travel Destination composition. Try to write at least 300 words. Your composition should introduce the place and give concrete advice and recommendations about places to stay, food, activities etc.
  2. In your journal, write about your house/room/neighborhood (Entry 4).

Week 3(4/20)

Today we will:

  • read each other's journal entries
  • continue with last week's worksheet (Phuket)
  • learn some formatting and writing mechanics tips (worksheet)

For next week:

  1. In your journal, write about a person (or people) that you respect (Entry 3).

Week 2(4/13)

Today we will:

  • read some classmates' journal entries and comment on them
  • start to think about travel destinations
  • read a sample composition and analyze it

For next week:

    1. Write something related to travel in your journal (for example, a trip you have taken, or places you want to go, etc.). This is "Entry 2: Travel".

Week 1(4/6)We're off!

Today we will:

  • Go over the Course Outline.
  • Set up your portfolios and journals.
  • Interview a classmate and introduce them to another classmate.
  • Start planning and writing your self-introduction.

For next week:

  1. Install the Drive app on your phone and request access to the shared folder.
  2. In your journal, write “Entry 1: Self-Introduction”. Write at least 100 words.
