PBIS at Gonsalves Elementary
What is PBIS?
PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. PBIS serves as an approach to school-wide discipline. With PBIS, students are explicitly taught the expectations and procedures for the entire school campus. We believe in positive reinforcement of proper behaviors and decision-making in our school. For more information, visit the PBIS website.
How does PBIS work?
School-wide expectations are made for all students throughout the school.
Students are taught organized routines and transitions for each school area.
Students who follow expectations will be recognized and rewarded in a variety of ways.
Teachers and staff will provide appropriate consequences for students who choose not to meet the expectations.

PBIS at home: how can you help?
Ask your child to tell you the school-wide expectations for behavior.
Ask your child to discuss examples of ways that he/she can use these expectations to help them learn and participate in school.
Discuss ways that these expectations can be used at home, school, and in the community.Â
