(30 minute check-in- rest of day for asynchronous work time)

Period 2: 9:10 - 9:40am

No Period 0. This is for the assignment to ETC case carrier who will support students with IEP and 504 plans. No need to check in to the Per. 0 class.

    • Google Classroom will highlight whether class will use Google Meet or ZOom for virtual meetings

  5. Log in to your .org gmail account and check your google classroom for access to your summer school classes.

  • Pick up Necessary materials from our school library:

    • Contact our library and set up an appointment

    • Borrow a chromebook, hotspot, or pick up materials (hs prep class only)

      • Parents must be present to check out devices

  • The most convenient parking lot will be the lot off of 183rd St., directly across from the Cerritos Sheriff's Station. When you arrive, walk toward the main office of CHS and keep going toward Bloomfield Ave. You will see an iron gate open for you. That is the Library gate and you can check out your devices there.

The state requires a minimum number of instructional minutes in order for a student to receive credit for summer school. Therefore, strict attendance rules apply. Students, who miss more than TWO days of summer school, for any reason, including days missed due to late enrollment, will be removed from the class and not receive credit.

No more than 2 absence 4 Tardies = 1 absence

Grading Policy:

50% pass policy (same as spring 2021)

  • Students will receive a letter grade of A, B, C, D, or F

  • If a student’s overall grade (including tests, quizzes, assignments, projects, etc.) is 50%, then the student will earn a D-. This should not change the value of an A, B, or C grade earned by a student.

Programs Available for all needs:

  • Credit Recovery Classes (students with F's)

    • Make up credits for classes failed in prior semesters to stay on track for graduation

  • UC/CSU Eligibility Recovery (students with D's)

    • Universities require students to earn at least a "C" grade to satisfy their "a-g" requirements to be eligible for admission.

  • High School Prep Academy (Middle school to High School transition program)

    • Focused Math & English preparation and skill reinforcement for incoming 9th graders geared towards high school transition.

      • Includes RSP and any students who received a D or F on report cards in either Math or English, and with teacher recommendation.

            • Career/Technical Education (CTE)- Coding, College & Career Guidance, etc

            • ART- Empow Studios editor program

            • MUSIC- Soundtrap Digital Music Creation/Beats

            • Wellness- Lab study: "Does vaping expose you to toxic chemicals?"

            • Weekly incentives for participation

            • Virtual Field Trips

  • Language Excels (ELL support program)

    • This academy is designed for Newcomer English Language Learners to help support and develop academic English language.

    • Students will also be able to experience elective coursework as a part of this academy along with real world experiences.

  • Bridge to Math II Plus (June 21 - July 9)

    • Students in general math CP classes can opt-in for this voluntary program to prepare them to transition successfully into the appropriate math plus honors program the following year.

  • Bridge to Math III Plus (June 21 - July 16)

    • Students in general math CP classes can opt-in for this voluntary program to prepare them to transition successfully into the appropriate math plus honors program the following year.

  • Bridge to Accelerated Math II/III (June 21 - July 16)

    • Students in math plus honors classes can opt-in for this voluntary program to prepare them to transition successfully into the appropriate Accelerated Math math plus honors program the following year.

  • Extended Learning Classes (Health) (Registration Closed)

    • Students who did not take health in their 9th grade should take health in the summer to satisfy the 5 credits of health required to meet the graduation requirement.

  • Edmentum classes

    • Self-paced independent study program that meets with teacher during 3rd period during summer school. This is typically reserved for upperclassmen or other unique needs outside of taking classes in the typically first and second periods of summer school.

  • Dual Enrollment CCAP Program- Cerritos College Courses

    • Earn both high school credits and 3 UC/CSU transferable units at the same time from a class taught entirely online by Cerritos College faculty.

(Satisfies "a-g" art requirement)

This course examines the art of motion pictures and it includes the critical analysis of feature films.


This course is a survey of the political, legal, economic, and social position and role of African-Americans in the history of the United States.


Time: Mandatory Online Lectures on Mondays & Wednesdays, 10am-11am

This course guides the student through the writing process to develop expository prose with an emphasis on effective organization and on correctness. This class will focus on African American writers and literature.

Time: Mandatory Online Lectures on Tuesdays & Thursdays, 11 am- 12pm

This course is a survey of theories, problems, nature, and the dynamics of racism.

Time: Mandatory Online Lectures on Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9:30am- 10:40am

Summer Meals:

Summer Meal Pick up every Fridays 8 am- 9 am only at the highlighted locations below (Not at Cerritos High School)

ABC Nutrition Services will be distributing Meal Boxes on Fridays throughout the whole summer staring on June 11, 2021 and ending on August 13, 2021. Meal boxes will have breakfast and lunch for the following week and are free for all children 18 and younger. Parents will need to either have a Summer Meal 2021 Placard or have their children present. Placards will be handed out on the last meal pick up day to the families currently picking up meals and will be given out to families when they bring their children to pick up meal boxes.
