N4 - This course is all internal assessed with no exam - pupils can gain a full award or unit passes.
Pupils must pass outcomes.
They must also complete an added value project to gain the full award.
N5 - This course is externally assessed in 2 parts
The exam is worth 80 marks (80% of final grade) covering all of the key units of study
The assignment is worth 20 marks (20% of final grade) and is a personal, pupil-led research project where their teacher can offer minimal support and guidance. It is sent away to SQA for external marking.
HIGHER - This course is externally assessed in 2 parts
The exam is split into papers 1 and 2 covering all of the key units of study.
Paper 1 - Physical and Human Environments - 100 marks (46%)
Paper 2 - Global Issues and Application of Skills - 60 marks (27%)
The assignment is worth 30 marks (27% of final grade) and is a personal, pupil-led research project where their teacher can offer minimal support and guidance. It is sent away to SQA for external marking.

HIGHER - The course is externally assessed in 2 parts
The exam is split into two papers.
The first is an essay paper worth 44 marks (40% of final grade) and covers the British and European and World units of study.
The second is a source paper worth 36 marks (33% of final grade) and covers the Scottish unit of study.
The assignment is worth 30 marks (27% of final grade) and is a personal, pupil-led research project where their teacher can offer minimal support and guidance. It is sent away to SQA for external marking.
ADVANCED HIGHER - The course is externally assessed in 2 parts
The exam is worth 90 marks and covers all the key knowledge and skills covered throughout the year.
The dissertation is worth 50 marks and is an independent research project about our unit of study on a question chosen by the pupil. It is 4000 words long and is sent away to the SQA for external marking.

An assignment, carried out during the year, worth 30% of their grade. This is a pupil led task and will receive minimal input from the class teacher. Pupils are encouraged to choose their own topic and conduct research in and out of class time.

HIGHER - This course is awarded in 2 parts: the final exam and the assignment.
Exam Question paper 1:This question paper has three sections: Political theory, Political systems, and Political parties and elections (52 marks 1 hour 45 minutes)
Exam Question paper 2: This question paper assesses the skills of comparing and contrasting information and interpreting, synthesising and evaluating a wide range of electoral data. (28 marks 1 hour and 15 minutes)
Assignment: Candidates choose any political topic or question to research. (1 hour 30 minutes)

L3 /L4/L5/L6- Both units are needed to be complete to achieve full award- outcomes will be assessed throughout the year.
Values in action: Pupils will also complete an independent activity, where they will be asked to reflect on and complete an assessed diary to meet these outcomes.
Investigating Religious Belief: Pupils will complete an independent assessed research task which will reflect their L3/L4/L5/L6 outcomes.

Talk about topics such as Buddhism- who is the founder, the nature of reality and of humans, Belief and Practices of Buddhism such as the Four Noble Truths, Three Marks of Existence, Samsara, the Eightfold Path, Life of the Buddha, Meditation and Puja.
