French/German/Spanish/Gaelic Learners

National 5  / Higher/ Advanced Higher 

• Encourage your child to regularly work towards memorising vocabulary for their final speaking exam. Listen to them reading out loud to help build their confidence

• At N5 and Higher pupils need to learn set phrases for the writing and these can be worked on at home. Teachers will provide these physically and on Google Classroom. 

• Encourage your child to use the SCHOLAR website as homework and consolidation. They will receive login details from their teacher. 

• For Advanced Higher, pupils must read texts in the foreign language, and then write an extended essay in English. Check in with them about how this is progressing and support their time management. It needs to be submitted by Christmas to the Faculty Head.

• Writing Assignment - sent to SQA 20 marks

• Reading Paper- 30 marks

• Listening Paper- 20 marks

Higher French/German/Spanish/ Learners Gaelic

• Talking Performance 30 marks

• Assignment Writing 20 marks

• Reading and Directed Writing Paper -50 marks

• Listening Paper- 20 marks

Advanced Higher French/German/Spanish/Learners Gaelic

• Talking Performance- 50 marks

• Portfolio  - 30 marks

• Reading and Translation Paper -50 marks

• Listening and Discursive Writing Paper - 70 marks
