Course Overview
Physics is the study of how things work and the level 4 Physics course builds on the knowled ge and skills gained in the S1/2 Science course. You will develop an understanding of Forces, Electricity and Waves which includes the following topics:
Dynamics and Space – Measure speed and acceleration. Investigate forces and motion in terms of space exploration.
Magnetism and Generation – Research different methods of electricity generation and energy conservation.
Physics in Concert – Research and investigate how sound, light and electrical circuits are used in music concerts.
Learning and Teaching Approaches
Physics lessons include learning through experiments and investigations, demonstrations, presentations, research, group work, active learning tasks, problem solving and note-taking.
Homework
Regular homework will be given to consolidate class work, develop problem solving skills and help with revision.
Assessment Approaches
There will be formal (written tests) at the end of each unit testing knowledge and understanding and problem solving skills. Pupils will be assessed on their practical skills and abilities to design and carry out experiments. There will also be ongoing assessments of performance in group work, presentation skills and research skills.
