Course Overview
Level 4 Music Technology is ideal for you if you have an interest in music and enjoy using computers. In this course, you will learn to record live sound and how to manipulate it by adding effects. You will do this using iMacs, Macbooks and the software GarageBand. The course will begin by teaching you basic techniques and you will progress onto completing individual and group projects such as recording live performances, creating radio broadcasts and adding sound to film clips/adverts.

Please note: for this course, it is not necessary to play an instrument but it might be an advantage.
Learning and Teaching Approaches
Music Technology lessons are mainly practical and you will learn through watching teacher demonstrations and completing practical tasks which will lead to larger projects. Projects will mainly be completed in pairs or small groups so it will help if you are good at working with others.
Homework
You will not be given set homework but might be expected to come in over a lunch break or after school to complete projects if you have fallen behind.
Assessment Approaches
Assessment will take place informally throughout the course. Assessment will be made in a practical context. Pupils will be assessed on their projects, their ability to work with others and their ability to evaluate their work.
