Course Overview
The level 4 Home Economics course builds on the level 3 S1/S2 course. It enables you to develop cookery skills and your knowledge and understanding of the relationship between food and health and wellbeing.
Topics of study include:
Cookery processes
Food preparation
Foods of the world
Health and wellbeing
Learning and Teaching Approaches
Lessons will focus mainly on the practical work. However theory lessons will study ingredients, equipment and techniques required to undertake the practical lessons successfully. A variety of learning and teaching methods will be used including; internet research, power point presentations, textbook learning and revision exercises.
Homework
Homework will be required regularly throughout the course and will depend on the topic of study and the information required.
Assessment Approaches
The course will be internally assessed both formally and informally. Practical skills will be assessed throughout the course and subject knowledge at set intervals.
