Course Overview
The Level 4 Computing and Software Development course builds on the level 3 S1/2 ICT course. On completion of the course you will gain knowledge and practical experience in:
Solving programming problems using Python.
Using graphics and animation software.
How to ensure the safety of your own devices from viruses, malware, hackers, etc. and looking at your own personal safety online.
Creating and manipulating Databases.
Designing and creating websites using html.
Designing and developing games using Scratch.
Learning and Teaching Approaches
Teacher lead demonstrations
Group work
Individual work – using booklets and other resources shared via Google Classroom. This might be writing a program or learning about Trojans and the other types of malware.
Homework
You will receive homework on a regular basis. This might involve finishing off class work, revising for assessments or undertaking research/investigation work in preparation for a class project. You can access the department PCs and resources at lunchtimes when you need to catch up on practical work. Missed class work will be available via Google Classroom.
Assessment Approaches
Assessment will take place both formally and informally throughout the course. Practically, the final product as well as the way in which you solve the problem is assessed. You will also be assessed on your understanding of the theory covered in the course.
