S2 RGU Northern Lights
We are delighted to share that one of Bridge of Don Academy’s groups has been awarded a prize by RGU Business School, receiving hoodies in recognition of their success. Pupils from schools across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire took part in the competition, making this a fantastic achievement.

On Thurs 4th of June, we attended the finals of the S2 STEM Challenge at NESCOL Altens. Pupils undertake 8 timed activities such as changing a tyre, setting up pneumatics, using VR to find clues to answer questions, driving a simulated boat, to name but a few.
They are marked on their team work and speed.
The winners receive an iPad (each) and the runners up usually air pods.
However, this year it was £200 worth of vouchers (each).
William Collier and Wissem Kail were our finalists from BoDA. Wissem was actually our reserve, but she was our lucky charm. The winners were Bucksburn Academy and Bridge of Don came second. We were the fastest in the tyre changing challenge, so if you have a puncture, I would definitely give these 2 a call!
It was a wonderful day, William and Wissem were absolutely brilliant and it was a very well deserved win - big shoes to fill next year!
Football Success for BODA
Huge congratulations to our S1 / New S2 football team, who recently defeated Lochside 4–3 in the final to secure BODA’s first football trophy in many years.
It was an exciting and closely contested match, with a nervy finish, but the team showed excellent character, resilience and teamwork to see the game through. A massive well done to all the boys and girls involved — you should be very proud of this achievement.
Thank you also to Kaitlyn Frost, Terence McGuire, Mr Ellington and Mr Gebbie for their time and support in making this success possible.

The cast of School of Rock took to the stage of the Arts Centre for 3 very successful performances.
All pupils were a credit to Bridge of Don Academy and the talent on the stage was outstanding.
Well done to all cast and crew who took part.

Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Expedition
The Bronze group put their planning, navigation, camp-craft and cooking skills to the test around the hills of Aberdeenshire, just South of Banchory. The group trekked through a tough first day up Kerloch hill, navigating using their maps and compasses on the ever-changing forestry tracks around the Ord of Tillyfumerie. Once clear of a recently changed path, they enjoyed expansive vistas from the 534m summit of Kerloch, and showed great endurance on the never-ending descent to make camp at the edge of Knockburn Loch. The inclement weather in the evening and overnight did not dampen spirits as the group awoke to the dawn chorus and a blanket of mist on the loch. Having made breakfast the group powered through the last day, marching along the undulating course and practically running toward the finishing point. The team showed great composure to work their way through a tricky first day route and great resilience given the conditions. All have passed the expedition part of their Bronze award and look forward to Silver!
On Monday 22nd of June, 25 of our S4 physics students signed up to take part in the GB Energy Challenge.
Working in teams, students designed their own wind farm for a fictional Scottish community, using real-world data and mathematical reasoning to inform their decisions, before presenting their designs to their peers. The winning team of four are now entered into the next round in September, when they will go up against other ACC secondary schools. If they make it, the final round will involve a trip to London!
