Seth is drowning, and then he is not. He awakes in a strange, coffin-like box, in the seemingly deserted world of his childhood. As he explores this peculiar landscape, Seth discovers that he is not quite alone, and he learns the truth about where he has found himself. We are given an insight into his life and the events which led to his drowning, drawing us into his experiences. Both parts of the story are fascinating, and as you learn more about Seth’s character you find yourself becoming increasingly invested in his story and outcome. I enjoyed this book, and although the story dragged a little at some points, and was probably longer than it needed to be, it was worth it in the end. I’d recommend ‘More Than This’ to anyone who doesn't mind a slower moving plot but still enjoys sections of action!

The Midnight Library is a beautiful book, about life, regrets, and the choices that shape your path. The main character, Nora Seed, finds herself in an infinite library - a library ‘between life and death’. Each book in the library offers the opportunity to discover another universe, one in which a particular choice was made differently, and we see Nora working her way through some of these lives, correcting mistakes and changing regrets. I greatly enjoyed this book, although as it progressed it became slightly preachy, and it lost some of the authenticity that it had when it began. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to branch out in their reading, but don't know where to start. It is technically a fantasy book, but it reads far more like a regular, somewhat philosophical, book about a normal life, so it is a good introduction to a different genre.

Good Omens is the story of the end of the world, and is one of my favourite books of all time. Hilarious, creative and full of incredible characters, Good Omens is both a book of light-hearted fun and one of important messages hidden within. The main characters include the demon ‘Crowley’, the angel ‘Aziraphale’, and ‘Adam’, the eleven year old Antichrist. Crowley and Aziraphale (of Hell and Heaven respectively) are good friends, and have made a grave mistake that they are trying desperately to rectify: they have lost the Antichrist. We meet many more characters along their journey, and watch as time starts to run out, and the apocalypse grows nearer and nearer. I have read this book many times, and highly recommend it to absolutely everyone! It is not a difficult read, and will bring warmth and joy to all.

This novel by Hannah Gold is an extremely emotional tale of a unique bond between an 11 year old girl called April and a polar bear. He lost her mother and soon after happened to reach Bear Island, an Arctic outpost, with her father who worked in the research centre. There, she finds a polar bear who is lonely and starving and far from home. This story is about the love between them and how she helps the bear get back to where it belonged.
A touching story of kindness, adventure and love. It tells you that anything is possible if you put your heart into it.

This insane masterpiece is a mix of gory murders and complicated love stories with an ending that no one can see coming. This twisted tale navigates grieving Mariana Andros's journey through a confusing and well-planned serial killers murders, each a strike a little too close to home.

She immediatly packs a bag and travels to Cambridge university where she discovers the chilling truth about professor Edward Fosca, and the famed 'Maidens' Secret Society.
Will she be able to protect zoe from the horrors that follow?
Will she find the mad man who is killing these young women?
Will Mariana find the closure she desprately needs to continue her life without her beloved Sebastian?
I highly reccommend this book to anyone who could deal with traumatic themes as it is a little mature and does cover some horriffic themes.

The titans curse is a really exciting and suspensful book thats about greek gods and demigods who are trying to stop the titan lord Kronos from rising. This is the third book in the series and is the best one in my opinion- let me tell you why.
The book starts with three demigods Percy, Annabeth and Thalia looking for more demiogod recruits. They stumble upon a school which they join and start looking for demigods and when they find them, they get attacked by Lukes' henchman who works for Kronos! Annabeth and Artemis get kidnappped! The demigods and the hunters then team up who don't like them very much but they team up anyways to find their leader and rescue Annabeth. They set off to find them and in turn find an army on top of Artemis holding the sky and Annabeth in chains. They all start fighting and Percy encourages Artemis to fight as he holds the sky. She hesitates but he holds it up and they win the battle!

The Hobbit, or ‘There and Back Again’, is an adventure like no other. Originally made up for Tolkien's own children, it is full of danger and peril of joy and family. Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit, a strange little creature: hobbits are on average around 3 feet tall, light on their feet, and wholeheartedly good natured. The Hobbit, Mr Baggins that is, is perfectly comfortable in his life, never taking risks or doing particularly dangerous things until, one day, the great wizard Gandalf comes to his door, with 13 dwarves, and he instantly becomes entangled in a treacherous plot to reclaim a long stolen kingdom from the dragon Smaug. And so his journey begins, along which Bilbo encounters Elves, Trolls, Goblins and Eagles. Beloved by people all over the world, the beautiful story Tolkien has created within these pages is brilliant and heroic: there is a reason so many hold this book close to their hearts, and I couldn't recommend it enough.

Northern Lights is the story of a young girl named Lyra and her dæmon (an animal companion that all humans in this universe have) Pantalaimon, as they embark on a destined journey to the perilous and frozen North in search of a kidnapped friend. A journey that sets in motion events that will affect worlds far beyond Lyra’s own. The book has many themes such as: love, betrayal and the debate between religion and science. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Throughout it I continually wondered at the connection between dæmons and humans, about what form my dæmon would take and how I would deal with the situations presented to Lyra. One of the key themes of this book (the debate between religion and science) is a topic I am extremely interested in and to be able to hear ideas about this topic through characters in the book was a welcome piece of fun.

One of us is lying is the first book in a 4 book series. It’s an amazing, dark and twisted book about your high school students' average life. It’s a dark yet addicting book and we all loved it! It follows 4 young students who get involved in a very twisted murder case and how they deal with it from each of their perspectives.
Age Rating: we would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 13. It’s quite dark and has some adult themes and language. It’s a great book though so when you're old enough give it a go!

Magisterium the Iron Trial is about a boy who has ben raised to believe magic is terrible thing. He then ends up going to a test and tries his best to fail. He has to take a bunch of tests alongside a lot of other kids to see if they actually have magical abilities.
It’s very interesting to see him make new friends and learn more about his past and magic. We also get to see his adventures in the school. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed Harry Potter.

Divergent is an amazing book! It has so many twists and turns! It’s about a young girl named Tris Prior who is discovering the outside world for what it really is. But after falling in love with her trainer Four, she wants to only go with and wherever he goes. It’s a brilliant page turner, addictive book which we all stayed up way late to read!! The first few chapters take a while to get into the book but once you are at the good parts, you literally can't stop reading it.
Age rating: We would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 12 or 13+. It’s a very good book but some chapters are quite violent with some actions that are very grown up. There are also some quite romantic chapters which younger readers might not find appropriate. However it is a wonderful book so if you are younger than the age of 12 and would still like to read this, then maybe just ask a guardian or parent first!

Mockingjay is such a thriller! The perfect ending to the series! It follows Katniss and Peeta's new relationship after his capture. It follows the factions' rebellion against the capital, will they overrun the capital or will they be punished for the actions? It does have a slower start than the other 2 books, and some chapters you can get lost in but overall it's an amazing book! A great end to the series with an emotional ending!
We would recommend this book to anyone 11+. There is nothing unsuitable, just a lot of violence at points! There is no bad language or any inappropriate actions, just a lot of violence!

A murder most unladylike is a great, fun, mysterious book. It follows 2 pupils and best friends who find one of their teachers dead in the hallway. When they come back from getting help she is gone! They go through all the suspects trying to solve the crime! It’s a great, fun and funny book. Some chapters aren’t as exciting as others but it’s still a really great book!
We would recommend this book 9+ as there is nothing too grown up or inappropriate. It’s a great fun book, you will most likely really enjoy!

A good girls guide to murder is a dark, mysterious, addictive book about a murder that happened 5 years ago in an A leveled students town. Everyone thinks they know who the murderer is but as Pip started discovering the truth about the murder, it is not as everything seems. She starts learning the real and powerful truth about what really happened that night 5 years ago. Will Pip really find out what happened in her little town 5 years ago?
We would recommend this from anywhere between 11 and 14+. Some readers who are younger might be completely fine with this book while others may find some scenes upsetting. There is some bad language, adult themes and it’s all about a dark murder. It is a great, addictive book but if you find it confusing or upsetting then please stop!

This book is such a great thriller! It’s the first book in the series of 4 and it follows up a young girl whose life is a complete mess! Rose had just witnessed 2 brutal murders and with her parents disappearing one night 5 years ago she wonders if the murders have any connection with her parents? This book is so scary and tense, we were all gripping onto out sofas waiting to see what would happen next. It’s definitely a page turner which you can’t stop reading!
We would recommend this book to anyone 12 or 13+ because this book is such a scary and tense book but in a good way! Some bits are really quite creepy though so make sure you don’t read this just before bed! This book is so good though so make sure you definitely read and you are sure you won’t have nightmares!
Star rating: Out of 5 we would give this book a ……. ☆☆☆☆☆ (5)

Diary of a Wimpy Kid the Meltdown is the 12th book of the series and it is about Greg Heffley's school shutting down because of the heavy snow! He simply thinks of things to do BUT runs out! Soon his neighbourhood becomes a winter battlefield. There are snow forts, fights and what do you do?? This book has so many cliffhangers and exciting events it's recommended for readers from P6-S1. I personally like this book because it is something you could relate to well as it is mostly based on true stories. My favorite part is when the school shuts down and everyone just starts playing in the snow! No homework! The question remains, can Greg stop the winter war?? Read the book to find out...

Ok so, I read the back of the book of course to see if it would be something I might be interested in and decided let me just try it even though it would NEVER be something I would normally pick to read. Sooooo I started reading the first few pages and I literally couldn’t stop. Just the way it was put/written was so different to what I knew. It not only kept me entertained and wanting more, it also made me question things I never thought I would question! If I was meant to recommend a book, definitely I would recommend this and if it is to whom, I think it’s best to say anyone who wants to try something new ,different, adventurous and not just your basic teen romance and drama!

Princess Caraboo shuns her life of trauma and servitude along with her old name Mary Wilcox, and is discovered wandering in a village near Bristol, clearly distressed. Rescued and taken to a pub, Caraboo is mistaken for a member of foreign royalty, based on her manners, her language and her exoticism. Taken by the effusive and shallow Cassandra to Knole Park to be studied by her mother Lady Worrall, Caraboo continues to be the warrior princess they all presume her to be… whilst also understanding every word she says.
Meanwhile, Cassandra’s equally shallow but also terrible brother Fred returns to Knole, determined to out Caraboo as a fraud.
This book is a story about white ignorance, exoticism, racism, and wealth privilege, alongside the profound effects trauma can have on an individual.

This book's genre is a really Interesting thriller. I really, really, really, enjoyed reading this book, I couldn’t stop reading it. It also has an important message in it about cyber bullying. I'm so grateful to have read this amazing book because it is so meaningful, beautiful, moving and inspiring. This book was about a girl that struggled with anxiety, not being loved and racism. At the end she really finds herself, it had such a powerful message and once you start reading it, you can’t really stop. It was basically the perfect book. It is now one of my favourites.
I would rate Starfish 10/10.

This book was about a girl, Aza that has bad anxiety and OCD and struggles to find herself. It is a heartbreaking, turn paging book which is written and explained very nicely. There isn’t lots of character development but there are many other good things about this book, it wouldn’t be my favourite but I did enjoy it.
I’d rate it 8/10

I would recommend "Divergent" by Veronica Roth to fans of "The Hunger Games" and "Maze Runner".
It's set in a world far in the future where people are divided into factions to keep the peace. The factions are:
Abnegation, who value selflessness
Candor, who value honesty
Erudite, who value cleverness
Amity, who value kindness and
Dauntless, who value courage.
Tris (the main character) however, is Divergent, meaning that she fits into multiple factions - i her case, Abnegation (which she was born into), Erudite (which she loathes) and Dauntless (which she chooses). Being Divergent is extremely dangerous as they are hunted and often killed by the government.
After choosing Dauntless, Tris and the 19 other initiates compete to make it into the top 10 and not become factionless.
This book is exciting, thrilling, really well written and so, so difficult to put down. The characters are really vividly and well written, particularly the love interest Four(Tobias).
I really enjoyed this book and would give it 4.8 stars. It has also been turned into a movie.

"Love Untold" by Ruth Jones is a story about a welsh family that follows the lives of the 4 generations of women, Matriarch, Alys, Elin and Becca. Matriarch's daughter, Alys had been estranged from the family for years and Matriarch wants nothing more than to see her before her 90th birthday. However, she can't let anyone know she reached out to her, especially not Elin, Aly's daughter and Matriarch's granddaughter who Alys left for Matriarch to raise. Elin's daughter Becca is going through a hard time with her GCSEs and when she becomes friends with Suzie her problems are all gone with her parents split up. Needing a break, Elin and Alys decide to go to Matriarch's house but Alys may take up on her mother's offer.
This book is suitable for teenagers and adults due to some language used. This book is one of the funniest book I've read, I laughed and cried while reading this story. Ruth Jones made the story relatable in aspects but still interesting and extraordinary. I would 100% recommend this book.

This book is about Alex Rider and how he is forced to work for M16 and how he learned how his parent died. He takes down an illegal organization and gets back to his normal life.

The book is an entertaining read, but it falls short right after the third arc.
There are some admirable characters, but the characterization patterns in subsequent arcs become repetitive and bland. Lots of questions are left unanswered while others were just "it is what it is". The ending is anticlimactic, with questionable plot twists for the sake of the shock factor, which I couldn't care less.
Overall I rate it a 4/5.
The Demon Dentist by David Walliams was truly one of thwe best books I have ever read! It was funny, sad and exciting! It was a combination of adventure and fantasy.
The book tells the story of Alfie and his best friend Gabze. When their headteacher once invited Miss Root a wicked and terrifying dentist - Alfie and Gabze realised that something was wrong! That's when their terrifying but exciting adventure started!
A young girl named Mary Lennox just became an orphan. In this lively, intriguing book of love you will find out the wonders of life with Mary, Dicken and Colin. This book is a true children's classic perfect for people who love a happy ending.
When Mary Lennox was 10 her mother and father died of Cholera. Not a problem for her as she never really loved them anyways. She had only one thing bothering her. That was living in her creepy uncle Archi bald's house. He's a hunchback who is apparently cruel and and mysterious, barely ever in his own house!

I really liked the anime, webtoon and manga. The plot fits together really well. The part I liked the most was near the end of a book and I would say Yuji and Mahito's fight was the best part. It looked really cool especially in the manga because it was more detailed. Also, the part when Toji said he was Megumi's dad left me in shock.
Overall I would rate it a 10/10!
One piece is a good manga to read because it's about a boy that wants to be the king of the pirates and with that he starts his journey in the oceans and builds a crew to go to find the biggest treasure of the oceans and with that he goes in many fights and places just to be the king of the pirates and he never gives up, and that is what makes one piece a very good manga to read. I really recommend it.
Percy Jackson has one of the best storylines in terms of mystery books. This book's main idea is that there was a boy known as Percy Jackson, and he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon. Many would start to think "What is that!" The key point is that when gods have kids with humans their child is called a half blood. We see Percy Jackson complete quests related to his missions. He also wants to clear his father's name and remove all the allegations/accusations on him. While completing missions he gets betrayed and also makes some new friends.
I would recommend this book for those who like mythology, mystery, suspense and action based themes. If there are some who don't like reading big books then they might wanna try the Percy Jackson graphic novel.

Witches of Brooklyn- What the Hex is a good book to read if you like magic friendship and mystery. This book is about a young girl called Effie and after the winter break she thinks she's losing one of her friends to the new girl. Everyone thinks that the new girl is amazing and Effie thinks she's been forgotten by her friend. That's not the only problem Effie comes to face, there's a problem with a "Stormy corner" that is causing some troubles. Everything starts to get to Effie's head and she starts to hate the new girl and it ends up hurting her friends, but the new girl has a secret that Effie didn't suspect.
S'more magic is good because it's very colourful and the letters are the perfect size to read and the book is very interesting because Effie didn't want to go to the summer camp for witches but when she got there amazing thing happened like her hand turning green, her learning how to swim and many more stuff happened the book is amazing and I recommend all of them number 1,2 and 3 and i rate it a 10/10, it is very good I liked it.
I recommend this book because each page and chapter are really short which helps for slower readers. Also the story is great talking about a girl, called Kasienka, who moves from Poland to England because her mother is trying to find her ex-husband. She goes to school and gets bullied by a girl named Claire and starts swimming. They evenually find the ex-husband, named Tata, but he has moved on. I love how each page has deep meaning and the book shows each side of Kasienks's life from school to swimming to at home. Their is happy and sad parts of the book but everything ties together well.

I recommend this book because it's about an issue that is happening right now, which is using phones too much. I like that they make it a challenge where you can win £1000 and the main character, Esther wants to visit her family with the money. Also, the book font is nice.
