Each student is individual and will be developmentally ready for books at different times. Keeping this in mind, the resources below range in age/reading level.
Reading Award Lists
YALSA Book Lists (American Library Association-Young Adult Library Services Association)
Various book awards and book lists for young adults ages 12 through 18.
The Schneider Family Book Awards honor an author or illustrator for a book that embodies an artistic expression of the disability experience for child and adolescent audiences.
The award (or awards) is given to an African American author and an African American illustrator for an outstandingly inspirational and educational contribution.
Books of fiction, information, poetry and pictures for all age levels (birth through age 14)
The Newbery Medal honors the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
The Stonewall Book Awards are presented to English language books that have exceptional merit relating to the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender experience.
The Sibert Medal honors the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished informational book published during the preceding year.
